Early Childhood Educator - Special Needs

Location: St. Mary, Jamaica

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to work one-on-one with a 5-year-old boy on the autism spectrum. The educator will play a vital role in fostering the child’s cognitive, emotional, and social development through tailored teaching and learning strategies that support his individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that align with early childhood learning objectives

• Support the child’s development in literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills

• Implement strategies and learning activities that are suitable for children with special needs, particularly those on the spectrum

• Monitor and assess progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed

• Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment

• Communicate regularly with the child’s parent(s)/guardian(s) to provide updates and collaborate on goals

Qualifications & Experience:

• Certification in Early Childhood Education (Level II or higher preferred)

• Proven experience working with children with special needs, especially those on the autism spectrum

• Strong understanding of child development principles and inclusive education

• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills

Preferred Attributes:

• Familiarity with behavior management techniques

• Ability to incorporate creative, sensory, and hands-on learning

• Experience working in home-based or one-on-one educational settings
