Description

About the Company

We build and run a portfolio of software products. Our own software creates most of our messaging and keeps it on target and on brand. We are hiring a portfolio content marketer who uses that software every day, edits what it produces, and runs the content and outbound work around it.

The Role

You will own how our products show up in the market. You start with two products. The first is a self-service B2B platform. The second is a B2B product sold only through enterprise contracts. Both are account based, which means we sell to a limited target list of named companies, and every message, email, and page is written with those accounts in mind.
Our software drafts the messaging and content. You decide what is accurate, what sounds right, and what goes out. Great discernment is required: you will catch what a draft gets wrong, sharpen what it gets right, and know the difference quickly. The job rewards someone with strong editorial judgment who learns tools fast and ships.
The role starts part time and becomes full time at day 45.

How the Role Works

For the first 45 days the role is part time. You use our software to write the messaging and content for the first product, review its brand core and marketing vitals, and work with the founder, the product team, and our agency to get it into market. From day 45 the role is full time. You keep creating content for the first product and take the second product to market and scale it.

What You Will Own

  • Reviewing and refining the positioning, messaging, elevator pitch, and tagline our software drafts for each product
  • Keeping every asset on target and on brand
  • Website content, blog posts, and social media content for each product, plus managing and monitoring the social accounts
  • Cold email sequences for each account list, and LinkedIn outreach through the founder’s accounts
  • Ad messaging for the first product, and reviewing results with the agency that runs the campaigns
  • Video content: cutting clips from our community sessions, editing customer testimonials and user-generated content (UGC), and coordinating paid talent for the UGC that needs it, with contractor support when volume requires it
  • Launch plans for new products and new features
  • The target account lists for each product, built and maintained with the founder
  • Sales assets for each product: pitch decks, one-pagers, and answers to the objections buyers raise most often
  • Pricing and packaging messaging
  • Case studies built from early customers
  • Ongoing tracking of competitors in each product’s market
  • A regular feedback loop that carries what customers and prospects tell us back to the founder and the product team

What You Bring

  • 5 or more years of marketing experience, with hands-on work in content, outbound, or growth
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C marketing
  • Strong editorial judgment: you can tell when a draft is accurate, on brand, and worth publishing, and you can fix it when it falls short
  • The ability to write every day at high volume and keep the quality up
  • Comfort working with AI tools and with workflows where a person reviews AI output
  • Hands-on cold email and LinkedIn outreach experience: writing sequences and testing what gets replies
  • Familiarity with Clay or a similar tool, or eagerness to learn it
  • Experience writing blog posts and running social media accounts
  • Video editing experience (preferred), including cutting long recordings into short clips and finishing testimonial and UGC video
  • Familiarity with account-based marketing, or eagerness to learn it
  • Experience helping launch products or features
  • Clear, plain writing, and the ability to match a founder’s voice after reading a few of his posts
  • Availability to work part time for the first 45 days and full time from day 45

Tools You Will Use

  • Our own software for drafting and checking messaging and content
  • Clay or a similar tool for account research and enrichment, used alongside our cold email operator
  • A cold email platform for sending, run by our cold email operator
  • A CRM for tracking accounts and conversations
  • A social media scheduling and monitoring tool
  • Ad platforms such as LinkedIn and Google, run with our agency
  • A video editor for cutting and finishing clips
  • AI tools for drafting and research, with a person reviewing the output

Who You Work With

  • The founder, directly, on positioning, voice, and the target account lists
  • The product team, directly, so you know what is shipping and can bring customer feedback to the people building it
  • Customers, directly, to collect testimonials and feedback on what they need from our products
  • The VP of Operations, on priorities, timelines, and resources
  • Agency specialists and contractors, who the founder and the VP of Operations manage, with your input on what is needed
  • A cold email operator, who runs the sending system and deliverability while you write the sequences and review results

Who Thrives Here

  • You are hungry to build something from the ground up
  • You like owning a result and you move quickly when the goal is clear
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and learn new tools in days, not months
  • You take feedback well and improve fast
  • You want to learn from the founder

Nice to Have

  • Experience at an early-stage company or inside a portfolio of products
  • Experience selling or marketing to enterprise buyers
  • Experience running paid ads on LinkedIn or Google
  • Familiarity with positioning frameworks such as jobs to be done

How We Will Measure Success

  • Week 2: the first product’s brand core and all marketing vitals reviewed and refined, with website and social copy underway
  • Day 45: marketing campaign under way and website built, and the role moves to full time
  • Day 90: 100 accounts on the first product, and 10 customers on the second product

Location and Pay

  • Nashville preferred, with remote candidates considered
  • $40 per hour for the first 45 days, about 20 hours a week, part time
  • $80,000 base salary from day 45, full time, plus bonuses
