Position: Healdsburg Clubhouse Director
General Purpose
Under the supervision of the SVP of Club Operations, the Healdsburg Club Director provides leadership and oversight of the Healdsburg Club, including preparation for its Summer 2027 opening. The Director is responsible for team management, program delivery and outcome measurement, strategic partnerships, youth safety, risk management, facility operations, and fiscal management.
The Director leads within Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin’s established organizational systems, administrative support, standards, and Built to Last Strategic Plan while serving as the local face of the Club. This role requires an entrepreneurial mindset, sound operational judgment, and the ability to turn community needs and new ideas into sustainable programs and meaningful outcomes for youth.
Joining before the Club opens, the Director will shape its programs, team, partnerships, and culture from day one. Building on Healdsburg’s legacy of serving youth since 1946, the Director will create a welcoming Club experience for young people from transitional kindergarten through high school and their families. The Director works directly with Club Members through programs, activities, and mentorship.
The Director models BGC3—Connect, Drive, and Adapt—in daily decisions, relationships, and leadership. At the Director level, this includes building alignment across teams and partners, taking ownership of Club results, and turning learning into improvements in Club programs and operations.
BGC3 Leadership Expectations
The Director demonstrates the expectations of an individual contributor and manager while extending their impact across the Club and contributing to organization-wide improvement.
- CONNECT: Build trust with Members, families, staff, and community partners. Create shared direction across the Club and organizational support teams, address concerns directly and professionally, and turn relationships into coordinated action that benefits youth. Coach staff to build a welcoming Club culture and productive working relationships.
- DRIVE: Translate strategic priorities into Club plans with clear goals, owners, timelines, and measures of success. Take ownership of launch readiness, program quality, staff performance, membership, and financial results. Monitor progress, address gaps promptly, and bring recommendations forward before decisions are needed. Develop staff to make decisions and follow through within their authority.
- ADAPT: Anticipate changing youth, family, community, and operational needs. Use Member voice, staff insight, participation data, financial information, and feedback to improve programs and systems. Guide the team through change with clear communication and practical support. Evaluate new approaches, sustain those that work, and share improvements that may benefit other Clubs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategic Direction: Establish Club goals and priorities aligned with community needs and BGCSM’s Built to Last Strategic Plan. Define success, monitor results, and adjust plans when outcomes fall short. Model organizational values and BGC3 expectations, provide clear direction and accountability for staff, and connect daily work to Club goals.
- Club Launch & Operational Readiness: Lead preparation for the Summer 2027 opening, including program planning, staff recruitment and training, partnership development, operating procedures, and facility readiness. Coordinate with organizational support teams to resolve launch needs and establish sustainable operations.
- Development & Management of a World Class Club Experience: Use the Youth Development Strategy and locally developed and Boys & Girls Clubs of America programs to create an environment where Members experience belonging, usefulness, competence, and influence. Oversee high-quality, age-appropriate programming for youth from transitional kindergarten through high school. Use participation data, outcome measures, Member voice, and family feedback to evaluate and improve programs. Coach staff to adjust activities based on Member engagement and share effective approaches across programs.
- Program Portfolio: Develop and oversee before- and after-school care, summer and break camps, sports leagues, evening and weekend drop-in programs, parent engagement and family classes, and enrichment opportunities such as art, STEM, robotics, cooking, and dance. Develop high school programming, including teen nights, leadership opportunities, and college and career preparation.

- Staff Recruitment, Management & Development: Recruit, hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate Club staff. Build a high-performing team, delegate meaningful authority, establish clear expectations, and hold staff accountable for results. Integrate Connect, Drive, and Adapt into staff coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations. Support organization-wide recruitment efforts and oversee independent contractors as assigned.
- Volunteer Development: Recruit, orient, support, and recognize volunteers who contribute to Club programs, sports leagues, and community engagement.
- Fiscal & Resource Management: Own the Club budget in partnership with Finance, including budget development, spending oversight, revenue planning, and timely action on variances. Follow organizational administrative and operational systems and ensure staff have the skills and technology needed to perform their responsibilities.
