Have 1+ year of experience working with kids? Your next opportunity could be just 8 minutes away.

HELP KIDS THRIVE. HELP TEAMS SUCCEED. GROW AS A LEADER.

Love working with Kids? Already the person others count on to lead, guide or lend a helping hand? Your next leadership opportunity could be right here!

At EDMO, our program assistants do more that support after-school programs. They help lead their success!

Maybe you have been a team lead, helped train new staff, mentored fellow educators or stepped up to keep things running smoothly when your supervisor needed support.

You don’t need years of management experience or a fancy leadership title. If you have spent at least 6 months stepping up, guiding others and taking ownership, we’d love to hear from you!

This is an opportunity to build on your experience working with kids while developing your skills in staff coaching, problem solving, team coordination and hands-on-site leadership.

One day, you're leading an exciting STEAM activity. Another day, you're supporting a Program Manager, mentoring an Instructor, or helping a team navigate a busy afternoon.

Keep doing what you love - working with kids - while taking the next step in your leadership journey.

What makes this role different?

You're more than an extra set of hands. You're a trusted team member who helps our programs and educators succeed.

Here's what your day might look like:

  • Be the go-to teammate. Step in to provide Instructor coverage and, when trained and assigned, support Program Manager coverage across sites in your region.
  • Make learning fun. Lead hands-on activities, encourage creativity, and help students feel safe, included, and excited to learn.
  • Help programs run smoothly. Partner with Program Managers on schedules, student transitions, attendance, supplies, and daily operations.
  • Help great educators become even better. Model effective practices, coach Instructors, and provide helpful feedback.
  • Build meaningful connections. Communicate with kiddos, families, school partners, and teammates.
  • Keep safety and quality first. Support positive behavior, accurate documentation, and EDMO's program expectations.
  • Be ready for something new. Travel between assigned sites as program needs change.

And yes, some days will involve glitter, big questions, unexpected challenges, and plenty of laughter!

You might be our program assistant if…

  • You have at least one year of experience working with groups of  in a school, camp, after-school, childcare, or youth program.
  • You bring at least 6 months of hands-on leadership experience, whether as a team lead, mentor, trainer, activity leader or someone responsible for guiding and supporting others.
  • You are comfortable taking initiative, providing direction and helping teammates succeed.
  • You're the person teammates naturally turn to when they need help.
  • You've supported, coached, trained, or mentored others or have experience guiding a team.
  • You can confidently lead activities, support and manage student behavior, and maintain a safe learning environment.
  • You can adjust when plans change  and approach challenges with a solutions-focused mindset.
  • You enjoy working with different teams, locations, and personalities.
  • You're dependable, communicate well, and genuinely enjoy supporting different teams.

Leadership isn't just about a title. It's about how you show up, take initiative, and help others succeed.

Bonus points if you're familiar with STEAM, social-emotional learning (SEL), or hands-on enrichment activities!

A few essentials

To be considered, you'll need:

  • Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have 1+ year of experience working with groups of  or youth.
  • Meet the applicable instructional qualification requirements: 48 college units, a qualifying college degree, or successful completion of the Instructional Assistant Exam.
  • Obtain CPR/First Aid certification by your start date, including an in-person CPR component.
  • Complete required Live Scan fingerprinting, TB clearance, and other applicable pre-employment requirements.
  • Provide three positive references.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel between assigned program sites.
  • Be able to actively supervise  indoors and outdoors, including standing, walking, participating in activities, and handling materials weighing up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
