Director of Software Engineering

Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the development and delivery of enterprise software platforms. In this role you will lead, direct, and manage the cross-functional technology delivery team. You will manage all the operational aspects of the software development to ensure business and project objectives are met. You will provide technical, administrative, and people leadership for multiple, diverse, and geographically distributed teams.
You will champion an AI-native approach to software delivery by integrating AI tools, automation, and intelligent engineering workflows across the software development lifecycle to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and increase engineering effectiveness. You will partner closely with product management, enterprise data management, IT, and business stakeholders to align technology delivery with business priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
• Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity
• Work across to improve the velocity of your and other teams
• Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments
• Oversee and guide the technical implementation of breaking existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices
• Shape long-term technical strategy and architecture standards for enterprise platforms
• Partner with senior engineering and business leaders to align product roadmaps with scalable technology capabilities
• Drive talent strategy, ensuring succession planning, skill development, and equitable opportunity across engineering teams

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science 
• At least 5 years of people management experience
• At least 8 years of experience designing, developing, or leading enterprise software solutions..
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise application architectures, including business workflows, integrations, security, scalability, resiliency, and production support for business-critical payment platforms.
• Experience leading engineering teams responsible for high-volume, highly available transactional systems in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
• At least 7 years of experience in all of the following:
  • Software engineering and solution architecture
  • Enterprise architecture and design patterns
  • Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in all of the following:
  • Software engineering and solution architecture
  • Enterprise architecture and design patterns
  • Web technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript and SPA frameworks)
  • Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, Scala
• 8+ years of experience with database and database management systems
• Experience with end-to-end payment processing, including authorization, clearing, settlement, refunds, chargebacks, tokenization, and payment gateway or processor integrations.
• Experience with card-present and card-not-present payment solutions, payment terminals, digital payment channels, or commercial/B2B payment platforms.
• Knowledge of payment-industry security and compliance requirements, including PCI DSS and protection of sensitive payment data.
• Experience modernizing legacy payment platforms into cloud-native, API-driven, event-driven, or microservices-based architectures.
• Experience integrating with major payment processors, acquirers, networks, gateways, or third-party payment platforms.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support
• 5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams
• 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards
