CSPNJ a mental health nonprofit agency is looking for a full-time Rapid Rehousing Specialist in Morris County. Under the supervision of the Diversion Supervisor, the Rapid Rehousing Specialist is responsible for supporting individuals experiencing homelessness in obtaining and maintaining safe, stable, and appropriate housing. As part of a county-funded program, the Specialist assists eligible individuals with accessing housing resources, including HUD-VASH vouchers and available income supports. This position is grant-funded from 11/1/26 - 10/31/27. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding, program requirements, and ongoing funding for the position.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Educate individuals and families on the various types of housing vouchers and rental assistance programs available, including eligibility requirements and the benefits of participating in voucher programs.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with landlords, property managers, referral agencies, and community partners to expand housing opportunities and facilitate successful housing placements.
- Works directly with individuals throughout the housing search and leasing process, providing assistance with identifying appropriate housing, completing applications, coordinating required documentation, communicating with landlords, and addressing barriers to housing stability.
Full-time | Benefit Eligible (Medical, free DMO dental & free vision) including 6 weeks PTO & 11 Holidays
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related discipline or a High School Diploma/GED.
- 2+ years of related experience in housing, homelessness, social services, property management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of the causes, trends, challenges, and potential solutions related to poverty and homelessness.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively work with individuals, businesses, landlords, and community partners in emotionally challenging or stressful situations.
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated use of strengths-based and solution-focused practices.
- Demonstrated ability to engage individuals with empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices, including individuals living with mental health and/or substance use challenges.
- Willingness to openly share relevant lived experience, including current or prior use of mental health and/or addiction services, experiences with homelessness, and aspects of personal recovery.
- MUST be proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general computer applications.
- Ability to effectively engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses through empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed approaches.
- Bilingual skills are a plus!
- MUST have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
