Metsä Spring is now looking for a
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, MUOTO™
Muoto™ is a breakthrough fibre-based packaging solution developed by Metsä Group to replace conventional plastic and laminated packaging in demanding food packaging applications. Combining premium functionality, industrial scalability and a significantly lower environmental footprint, Muoto represents one of the most advanced innovations in sustainable packaging today.
Following years of technology development, customer validation and industrial-scale piloting, Muoto entered its commercial phase in August 2026, when Metsä Group decided both to launch the Muoto™ business and invest EUR 25 million in a new industrial-scale production facility in Äänekoski alongside the existing demo plant. The new facility is scheduled to start operations in 2028, creating a unique opportunity to shape and scale an entirely new business from the ground up.

What is the job that awaits you?
In August 2026, Metsä Group decided both to launch the Muoto™ business and to invest in a new industrial-scale production facility in Äänekoski alongside the existing demo plant. The new facility is scheduled to start operations in 2028.
As Muoto transitions from successful piloting to industrial-scale commercialization, we are looking for an experienced business process & IT solutions development manager. This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the start of its commercial journey and play a central role in designing, building and deploying core business capabilities to ensure business growth.
Due to scale-up stage of the business, the role is combination of operational and development ownership responsibilities. In this role, you will:
- Manage Muoto Supply Chain operations and development. Current operation outsourced to 3PL service provider.
- Take ownership of Muoto IT operations and development.
- Lead the business capability design, build and deployment in the Muoto™ business as it enters the commercial phase and prepares for significant expansion.
- Take ownership of the performance of the overall business process and IT solutions development projects such as ERP and CRM, including delivery scope, expectations, quality, budget, timeschedule and risks.
- Collaborate closely with Muoto team, Metsä IT, implementation consultants, solution vendors and other key stakeholders
- Build and lead a high-performing development teams and contribute to the successful scale-up of the business towards the launch of the new production facility in 2028.
What are we expecting of you?
We are looking for a person who is capable of developing capabilities successfully in a dynamic and evolving business environment where growth, speed, and customer focus are critical.
In this position, the following competences and experience are considered essential:
- A relevant Master's degree, combined with business capability development and deployment expertise and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in capacity development and deployment, including
- Business models and processes. Experience in food / packaging value chain is considered an advantage.
- IT solutions such as ERP/SAP in industrial environment, MES, Scada and CRM.
- Data
- Experience in carrying direct responsibility for project delivery management, including management of scope, expectations, quality, budget, time schedule and risks.
- Experience and skills to utilize AI as accelerator in implementation projects (low code for example) and AI as business operations accelerator.
- Project delivery and delivery management experience from consulting service provider is considered an advantage.
- Experience in running (outbound) supply chain operations in international business.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with fluent English proficiency
- Proven people leadership experience with the ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing teams consisting of Muoto people, Metsä IT, implementation consultants and vendors
- Entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on approach, and a strong drive for results
- Ability to travel
