The Opportunity

This is a 6 to 12-month project-based opportunity for a Prototype Build Coordinator to join a challenging automotive program. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating prototype build activities throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring alignment between customers, suppliers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations.

You will play a key role in delivering prototype builds on time, within budget, and according to quality requirements, acting as the central point of coordination across multiple stakeholders while supporting the successful execution of prototype and pre-production phases. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and successfully launch prototype builds through cross-functional teams.
  • Manage and maintain project build plans and prototype-related documentation.
  • Collect and review customer Purchase Orders (POs) and demand information through EDI systems.
  • Gather and consolidate internal prototype requirements.
  • Track prototype sample units throughout the build process.
  • Coordinate the distribution of samples to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain delivery tracking and reporting for prototype activities.
  • Prepare and submit Build Information Forms (BIF) and supporting documentation.
  • Review product deviations with Engineering and Software teams.
  • Define production priorities and build content according to customer delivery requirements.
  • Drive teams towards First Time Quality (FTQ) objectives.
  • Support budget forecasting activities alongside project stakeholders.
  • Monitor prototype and material costs to ensure financial targets are achieved.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding project timelines, deliverables, and volume expectations.
  • Facilitate communication and alignment between customers and internal teams.
  • Identify and mitigate prototype-related risks throughout project execution.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of prototype activities, deliveries, and budgets. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Previous experience within the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of Product Development Processes (PDP).
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management methodologies.
  • Financial awareness and cost management understanding.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Portuguese language skills are considered an advantage.
