Job Summary:
The Formulation Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity of product formulations, feed tags, and historical data for the Southwest Region, as well as supporting other mixed feed administrative functions. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Closely coordinate with sales, outside nutritionist, and the Pricing Manager to manage local formulations for the SWCO region.
- Manage and maintain contract ingredient specifications and pricing.
- Updates ingredient costs.
- Determine cost of formulas.
- Coordinate with operations personnel on formulation changes.
- Assist in administrative duties and cross training with other mixed-feed administration personnel.
- Coordinate with purchasing group to monitor expected usage changes.
- Coordinate with the Pricing Manager in implementing monthly formula and ingredient pricing, margin management, and inventory control.
- Build and maintain relationships with outside nutritionists.
- Coordinate with operations and purchasing teams as part of inventory management planning.
- Comply with the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies as listed in the Employee Handbook.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contribute to creating an environment where people want to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.
- Dairy industry/marketplace knowledge and strong agricultural business aptitude preferred.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Strong customer service commitment required.
- Must have superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and follow up is required.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
- Ability to navigate an office environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
