Job Summary
The successful candidate will serve as an Enterprise Technical Specialist. In this role, you will work in close coordination with ID&C Engineers, Facility Systems Engineers, Craft, and Project Managers to support Capital Improvement and sustainment projects. Your primary focus will be supporting the physical implementation, field configuration, testing, validation, and maintenance of enterprise-level steady-state and dynamic data acquisition systems.
Under the general technical direction of the engineering staff, you will assist in selecting and procuring instrumentation and system hardware, provide hands-on technical guidance to skilled craft personnel (such as electricians and instrument technicians) during system assembly and installation, resolve field measurement issues, and manage system assets to ensure overall operational readiness.
Job Duties:
- Interpret engineering schematics, wiring diagrams, and design documentation to provide on-site technical direction to craft personnel during physical assembly, rack integration, and system configuration.
- Perform functional verification, diagnostics, and Tier-2 troubleshooting on steady-state and dynamic data acquisition systems to resolve hardware faults, electrical noise, and measurement discrepancies during setup and validation phases.
- Coordinate with test operation support teams ("Super Users") and senior engineering staff to manage specialized sensor and data acquisition hardware pools (e.g., DVS, DTS, Netscanner).
- Perform analytical system checkouts and data evaluations to verify instrumentation setups function within specified tolerances prior to operational turnover, ensuring all equipment is calibrated, certified, and fully traceable to national standards.
- Track and document work task progress. Document and communicate root causes and resolutions of any Lost Test Time (LTT) events using standardized written reports.
- Actively adhere to and enforce safety, security, and quality protocols.
- It is a condition of employment to wear company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Assist with other technical, administrative, or operational duties as assigned by leadership.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology, Instrumentation, Industrial Systems, or a related technical field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience in industrial instrumentation, calibration, or data acquisition.
- Or; Completed military technical training (e.g., Air Force PMEL, Navy Electronics/Calibration Technician, Marine Corps/Army Calibration) with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in calibration, instrumentation setup, and data acquisition troubleshooting.
- Or; Completed formal vocational training, trade school, or a certified apprenticeship program in Electronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Systems, or a closely related technical field with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in electronics, industrial instrumentation, or calibration.
- Or; High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in industrial instrumentation, electrical diagnostics, sensor calibration, or high-speed data acquisition setup.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and maintain authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance requirements and the necessity to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on DAQ Experience: Practical work experience configuring, wiring, and maintaining sensor systems and computerized data acquisition hardware in an aerospace ground test environment or heavy industrial process plant.
- Craft Leadership: Proven ability to coordinate and lead skilled union craft personnel (such as industrial electricians and instrument technicians) through installation and validation workflows.
- System Diagnostics: Strong diagnostic skills using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, IT/networking systems, and software utilities to troubleshoot analog/digital signals and communications networks.
- Familiarity with Specialized Hardware: Familiarity with high-density pressure scanners (e.g., Netscanner), temperature measurement devices (DTS, thermocouples), and high-speed transient recorders.
- Security Clearance: Possess an active DoD Security Clearance.
