About the Role


At Toll, we're looking for an experienced customs leader to drive operational excellence, compliance, and commercial performance across our New Zealand customs operations. Reporting to the Customs Senior Manager ANZ, you will lead a high-performing team, oversee national customs activities, ensure compliance with NZ Customs Service and MPI regulations, and identify opportunities to enhance service delivery, productivity, and profitability. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within a dynamic global logistics organisation.


A day in the life of a Customs Manager NZ at Toll


  • Lead New Zealand customs operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor operational performance, KPIs, productivity, and financial outcomes.
  • Manage and develop onshore and offshore customs teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and support operational transformation activities.
  • Partner with key customers and support major account implementations.
  • Represent Toll during audits and deliver value-added customs solutions for clients.

Qualifications


  • Licensed Customs Broker (New Zealand).
  • Extensive experience within customs and international logistics operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in a national or multi-site environment.
  • Strong understanding of customs legislation, tariffs, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience managing operational performance through KPIs and reporting.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills & Experience


  • 10+ years' experience in customs operations, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to identify revenue and profitability opportunities.
  • Data-driven approach to decision-making and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced logistics environment.
