Description
Full-Time | Engineering Team
- Evaluate and select LED drivers, power supplies, control components, and related electrical hardware for Xico lighting products.
- Work directly with driver and controls manufacturers to identify and qualify components that meet product performance, functionality, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
- Support integration of common architectural lighting control protocols and technologies, including 0–10V, DALI, DMX, phase dimming, and wireless/networked control systems.
- Evaluate electrical compatibility between LED light engines, drivers, controls, sensors, and other system components.
- Support development of solutions for tunable white, dim-to-warm, dynamic lighting, and other advanced lighting applications.
- Maintain awareness of new driver, controls, and power-supply technologies that could improve product performance, functionality, cost, or manufacturability.
- Work with the product development team to define the electrical architecture of new and existing lighting products.
- Develop electrical requirements and specifications for drivers, power supplies, controls, wiring, connectors, and related components.
- Build and test prototypes to validate electrical performance and control functionality.
- Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting during product development and qualification.
- Support UL/ETL and other applicable safety and regulatory certification activities.
- Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues and qualify new or alternate electrical components.
- Provide hands-on electrical engineering support to production technicians assembling and testing Xico lighting products.
- Develop clear wiring methods, assembly instructions, and electrical test procedures for manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot wiring, driver, controls, and electrical performance issues on the production floor.
- Develop practical test fixtures and methods for validating fixture operation during production.
- Train and support technicians on electrical assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Work with Quality and Manufacturing teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for electrical issues.
- Create and maintain fixture wiring diagrams, schematics, connection diagrams, and other electrical documentation.
- Develop clear wiring and installation documentation for production teams, field technicians, electrical contractors, and customers.
- Maintain electrical component specifications and approved component information.
- Support creation of technical documentation for drivers, controls, sensors, emergency systems, and other electrical options.
- Ensure electrical documentation accurately reflects released product configurations and manufacturing requirements.
- Support Customer Service, Sales, and Engineering with technical questions involving fixture wiring, drivers, dimming, and controls.
- Assist in troubleshooting field issues involving electrical installation, control compatibility, or fixture operation.
- Work with electrical contractors, controls manufacturers, and other technical partners when necessary to resolve application issues.
- Help translate complex electrical and controls requirements into practical solutions that can be manufactured, installed, and supported reliably.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Practical understanding of AC and DC electrical systems, power supplies, electronic drivers, wiring, and controls.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Hands-on approach to engineering and troubleshooting.
- Comfortable using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, and related instrumentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to systematically troubleshoot electrical and controls issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, engineers, production technicians, electrical contractors, and customers.
- Organized and capable of creating clear technical documentation.
- Experience with LED lighting, LED drivers, architectural lighting controls, UL-listed products, or electrical product manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Experience with 0–10V, DALI, DMX, wireless lighting controls, sensors, emergency lighting systems, or similar building-control technologies is a plus.
- Work directly on industry-leading architectural lighting products combining advanced optical, electrical, and controls technologies.
- Have a visible impact on products from early development through production and field installation.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers rather than being limited to a narrow engineering function.
