Project Manager - Space & Defense Programs

ABB Measurement and Analytics designs, manufactures and markets near- and mid-infrared analytical systems for the petroleum, chemistry, life sciences, semiconductors, academic and metallurgy industries, and instruments for remote sensing applications and aerospace. Added to this portfolio is the product line of lasers for level control and volumetric measurement of dried, solid or liquid raw materials.

JOB: Project Manager – Space & Defense Programs

The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of complex contractual projects involving the development and delivery of space instruments and payloads. The Project Manager will oversee the commercial, contractual, financial, and operational aspects of the projects, from the proposal stage through delivery and closeout.

The position requires an excellent ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary technical teams, customers, partners, and management. The Project Manager may be required to lead several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of this position is the management, commercial and customer aspects of assigned projects, including:

· Act as the primary point of contact for customers and partners.

· Participate in proposal preparation and in the analysis of contractual and technical requirements.

· Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, resource plans, and delivery strategies.

· Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate priorities with functional managers.

· Plan and coordinate key internal program reviews and project milestones.

· Manage project risks, opportunities, scope, changes, and priorities.

· Monitor financial performance, milestones, performance indicators, and critical paths.

· Implement recovery plans when required.

· Manage suppliers, subcontractors, and external partners in collaboration with the relevant teams.

· Ensure compliance with contractual, quality, security, and export control requirements.

· Ensure the delivery and acceptance of products, software, documentation, and test results.

· Prepare and negotiate change requests and contract amendments.

· Clearly communicate project status, risks, and issues to management.

· Ensure contractual and financial closeout and document lessons learned.

Experience and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.

· A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience managing complex or contractual projects.

· Experience in the space, aerospace, defense, or high-technology sectors is strongly preferred.

· Experience managing budgets, schedules, contractual deliverables, and customer relationships.

· PMP certification or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

· Ability to obtain the security clearance required under the Controlled Goods Program.

· Availability for occasional travel.
