Sr Platform Engineer (AWS)

About the Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work closely with the engineering team on cloud infrastructure reliability and scalability. You'll help streamline developer workflows and build self-service platform features that support engineering teams.

You will identify infrastructure and process bottlenecks, improve deployment automation, and help maintain developer velocity so teams can ship reliable software efficiently.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage AWS Cloud Infrastructure: Contribute to our core AWS cloud environment. Architecting, securing, and maintaining highly available, cost-efficient infrastructure, including robust AWS networking configurations (VPCs, subnets, and route tables).
• Administer Kubernetes: Manage, optimize, and monitor our AWS Kubernetes clusters, ensuring robust container orchestration, healthy resource allocation, and smooth scaling.
• Automate Deployment Pipelines: Architect, implement, and maintain secure, reliable CI/CD pipelines using ArgoCD and GitHub Actions to automate software delivery.
• Empower Developer Self-Service: Write, modularize, and maintain Helm charts and platform templates to abstract infrastructure complexity and enable developers to deploy their applications independently.
• Optimize Network & Traffic Control: Configure and manage our service mesh architecture using Istio to ensure secure traffic flow, robust encryption, and advanced routing capabilities.
• Manage AWS Infrastructure as Code: Codify and maintain all cloud resources using Terraform, ensuring environment consistency across staging and production.

Requirements

Must Haves:

• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Hands-on AWS expertise: Strong experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure, including robust AWS networking (VPCs, subnets, routing).
• Production Kubernetes administration: Experience administering, scaling, and monitoring containerized environments.
• Advanced CI/CD automation: Proven expertise in building deployment pipelines using ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.
• Helm templating: Hands-on experience writing and modularizing Helm charts to package applications for developer self-service.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in managing complex environments using Terraform.
• Service mesh networking: Experience configuring traffic routing, security policies, and observability using Istio.
• Strong communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation

• Base Salary Range: $150,000–200,000 USD for US-based candidates. This is a good-faith compensation range based on what Ledgebrook reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting. Actual compensation may vary based on a variety of relevant factors, including experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant factors.
• Employees in this position are eligible to participate in Ledgebrook’s equity incentive program.
