F.D. Thomas is seeking Safety Technicians to join our team on a large-scale project at a nuclear site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

What You'll Be Doing
As a Safety Technician, you'll work directly with field leadership and operations to help maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitor and enforce safety compliance on the project
- Perform jobsite inspections and safety audits
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Assist with Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and task-specific safety planning
- Support fall protection, respiratory protection, confined space, Hazard Communication, and Lockout/Tagout programs
- Participate in daily and weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings
- Assist with industrial hygiene sampling and monitoring
- Investigate and document accidents and incidents
- Evaluate PPE and safety systems for adequacy
- Maintain safety documentation and site reports
- Provide timely safety guidance and regulatory interpretation to field personnel
- Work with field teams to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and mitigate safety and health hazards
- Mentor and support field personnel in safe work practices
- Assist project and EHS leadership with maintaining an effective Safety & Health Program
What We're Looking For
We're looking for Safety Technicians who are comfortable being in the field, engaged in the work, and visible to our crews.
Successful candidates will bring:
- 3+ years of safety experience in an industrial construction environment preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry
- Strong hazard recognition and risk assessment skills
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene sampling for airborne hazards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with craft employees, supervision, project management, and EHS leadership
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced project environment
- A hands-on, team-oriented approach to safety
- Ability and willingness to work a combination of day and night shifts
- Safety Certifications
- OSHA 30 required at minimum
- OSHA 500 preferred
- CSP or other recognized safety certification is a plus
