Description
We're hiring new CDL-A drivers in Leeds, Moody and east Birmingham for an OTR reefer seat. Training pays $650 a week. Solo drivers average $1,300 to $1,500 a week, never unload a trailer, and get home every two weeks.
There are plenty of first jobs out there. Here are three reasons new drivers pick this one.
Reason 1: you're paid while you learn.
You get 3 to 5 weeks (200–250 hours) on the road with a mentor at $650 a week. You learn backing, trip planning, logs and fueling with someone experienced in the next seat.
Reason 2: your pay has a floor.
For your first three months solo, you earn at least $1,000 a week. After that, drivers average $1,300 to $1,500 a week on 1,900 to 2,800 miles, with $100 flat on short hauls and a monthly performance bonus.
Reason 3: you drive, you don't unload.
It's reefer freight, so the dock does the work. You run day and night loads across the East and Midwest, in an assigned truck about 1.5 years old on average, automatic or 10-speed. Weekends and holidays are part of the schedule. You're home every two weeks.
Getting started
Orientation takes two days or less. Hotel is covered, bus fare is reimbursed, and you earn $300 once hired.
After 30 days
Medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage. 401(k), stock purchase plan and employee assistance program. Free online degree for you and one family member. Riders welcome. One dog under 40 lbs after training.
Requirements
- 21 or older, Class A CDL
- New CDL grad, or 6 months of recent experience
- 2 or fewer moving violations in 2 years
- No DUI/DWI in 10 years
- DOT physical and hair/urine drug screen
Three good reasons. Apply now and a recruiter will call.
