Part-Time 
On Call Daily Minimum: 6:30-7 a.m. (Mon – Fri)
When staffed: 8am -  3pm, Mon -  Fri. Some schools may require 7:15am - 4:30pm.

A Day in the life of a Substitute School Behavior Technician

  • Be on-call to ensure consistent staffing coverage at our partner school districts, to ensure that no student has to miss a day of in-classroom support.
  • Support a range of students and schools, as day-to-day needs arise.
  • Use a model of therapy referred to as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in a school setting.
  • Provide behavioral support for students in the classroom (elementary through high school), either generally for the classroom or 1-on-1 with students. 
  • Analyze environmental factors that may be inhibiting the student’s ability to access school curriculum.
  • Work with teachers and other school professionals to customize the intervention to each student's skills, needs, interests, developmental profile, preferences, and setting. 
  • May receive ongoing training and supervision throughout the treatment period by a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) or a Masters level ABA Supervisor.  
  • Help students achieve their greatest possible academic, social, and emotional success in his/her school environment. 


Qualifications - What you bring to the table


Minimum Qualifications 
  • High school diploma or equivalent PLUS completed college courses (60 units) OR an Associates degree. 
  • 6+ months of ABA experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable source of transportation, and active auto insurance. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and professionalism, allowing you to work effectively with students, teachers, and others in a school setting. 

Preferred Qualifications 
  • ABA experience in a classroom setting  
  • Bachelor's degree  
  • CPR certification in both pediatrics and adults 
  • Experienced and comfortable managing a wide variety of maladaptive behaviors, ranging anywhere from non-compliance, elopement, verbal and physical aggression, self-injurious behaviors, etc. 
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 1 full school year as a School Behavior Technician (SBT) to ensure students can reach their potential 
  • Bilingual
