Description
If you have an aquatics background, can foresee potential problems, and have the specialty skills needed to solve them, then this could be the position you've been looking for. This position requires continual direction and oversight of aquatics operations and programming. A successful candidate will be able to communicate, solve problems, adapt to changing situations, think critically, and work as a team.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
- Ashburn Recreation & Community Center, Ashburn, VA
- Develops a maintenance schedule for the aquatic facility; conducts daily safety inspections, upkeep, and minor fixes in accordance with Health Department regulations; keeps thorough and precise daily maintenance documentation and reports; notifies the supervisor of any work orders that need to be forwarded to the Building Engineer.
- Monitors all pool activities closely, identifies any potential hazards, enforces pool rules and safety regulations, maintains communication with management and all pool areas via radio, and ensures proper rotation is being adhered to.
- Procures necessary pool-related supplies and equipment as per Department guidelines and upon request.
- Plans aquatic programs and activities, including open swim, aquatics instruction, aquatic fitness, and special events; adheres to set guidelines for membership, capacity, and program requirements.
- Establishes the pool for the effective operation of leisure swimming in accordance with program schedules, calendars, and designated hours.
- Directs lifeguards and water attendant employees; ensures accurate attendance record-keeping. Supervising the full-time Aquatics Programmer and Aquatics Supervisor.
- New program staff members are hired and undergo comprehensive training on the policies and procedures of both the Center and the aquatics program.
- Performs daily and weekly chemical readings, keeps detailed chemical logs, and ensures that pool chemical levels adhere to health code standards. Additionally, oversees the inventory of pool chemicals.
- Other essential job duties relevant to the role and department may be required.
* The Work schedule varies with operational hours and may include weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and/or Water Safety Instructor Trainer or equivalent. CPRP certification or equivalent. Membership and involvement in related professional organization(s). Completion of NRPA National Aquatics Management School (NAMS).
- Must be physically able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
- Must undergo pre-employment screenings for criminal, credit, and DMV backgrounds.
- A valid driver's license and a good driving record are required; annual checks of driving records may be conducted to confirm continued eligibility.
- All certifications must be obtained within the department's required timelines and include the following:
- Pool Operators license
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification required at time of hire
- Water Safety Instructor
- CPR and First Aid
- First Aid Instructor certifications
- Successful candidate must complete Bloodborne Pathogen and facility-specific building and pool systems training and County required Supervisory Courses to include E-learning.
- Must attain any other certifications or training needed by the Department for the specific area of responsibility.
