As a Network Engineer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful supporting mission of US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing, modernizing, and securing enterprise‑level network solutions that enable reliable, resilient, and high‑performance environments essential to mission success.

• Lead, manage, and support end‑to‑end network engineering initiatives that ensure availability, security, and scalability across complex enterprise environments.
• Independently plans, prioritizes, and executes complex network engineering efforts from initial intake through implementation, validation, documentation, and operational handoff.
• Coordinates technical work intake and workflow across the network support queue, ensuring tickets contain complete requirements, appropriate technical context, clear ownership, and actionable next steps.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams to deliver integrated solutions that advance mission outcomes.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement, resolving technical challenges and shaping network strategies that enhance efficiency and resiliency.
• Utilize advanced network technologies, tools, and architectures to design, implement, optimize, and protect network infrastructure supporting mission‑critical operations.
• Applies advanced technical judgment to identify downstream dependencies, required preparation, implementation constraints, and validation requirements before work begins, reducing rework and avoidable schedule delays.
• Develops clear technical approaches for complex or ambiguous requirements; independently investigates issues, resolves obstacles, and escalates only matters requiring additional authority or specialized expertise.
• Reviews work products, ticket information, implementation plans, and technical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and operational readiness before execution.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Experience: +12 years of related experience

• Technical skills:

• Proven ability to mitigate risks, control costs, and manage large-scale, integrated projects effectively.
• Reviewing and approving network engineering documentation to ensure processes and specifications meet user and network needs.
• Coordinating network integration activities among multiple teams to ensure full coverage of all interfaces, while capturing designs in a standard interface control format.
• Experience analyzing user requirements, high-level system architectures, and network performance indicators to develop appropriate network specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex technical efforts with multiple dependencies, stakeholders, and operational constraints.
• Demonstrated ability to assess work intake, establish technical priorities, and coordinate execution across concurrent network engineering requirements.
• Proven record of anticipating implementation dependencies and risks, developing complete execution plans, and driving work through validated completion.
• Experience supporting high-visibility customers and projects requiring responsive communication, precision, discretion, and reliable status reporting.
• Ability to evaluate technical work products and documentation for completeness, quality, operational impact, and readiness for implementation.

• Certifications:

• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification required prior to support on contract.
• IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification: Security+ or equivalent.
• Required Computing Environment Certification: Minimum of CCNA at start, with CCNP to be obtained within 180 days of start date (preference for candidates with CCNP on Day 1).

• Security Clearance: TS/SCI required
• US citizenship required
• Role Requirements:

• On-site support at the customer location.
• Willingness to attain a CI Polygraph for specific positions as determined by the contract.
• Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity
• Travel may be required to support mission goals.

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
