Our Mission
We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. Throughout our almost 30-year history, we’ve consistently been recognised as a great place to work; in 2026, Capital One was officially ranked 9th in the UK’s Best Workplaces™ list. Hear from our team about what it’s like working at Capital One UK.
About the Role
We’re on a mission to be a force for good in lending. To support this, we are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated finance professional to join our UK Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a specialised hybrid role that sits at the intersection of financial strategy and project delivery. As a dedicated Finance Transformation Lead, you aren't just supporting finance routines—you are driving the end-to-end technical execution of complex strategic initiatives. We are looking for an 'Insightful Investigator' who can translate between finance data and systems requirements to deliver solutions that scale.
What You’ll Do
Project Leadership: Act as the lead resource for finance-based projects, navigating governance routines and managing RAIDD (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies, and Decisions) items.
Rigorous Execution: Drive key project testing cycles, managing UAT and Close Simulation (SIM) test scenarios efficiently to strict deadlines.
Proactive Problem Solving: Identify system blockers early (such as issues with financial dashboards and reports), develop workarounds, and clearly communicate the impact to other Lines of Business.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with UK and enterprise teams, to resolve issues and represent UK Finance's interests.
Clear Communication: Focus and highlight key points with transparency when communicating complex project statuses to stakeholders.
Data-Driven Insights: Go beyond surface-level analysis to generate meaningful insights, analysing qualitative and quantitative data to ensure data integrity.
Core Finance Support: Provide general finance support and remediations as we balance priorities during this transition.
The Skills and Experience You’ll Need
The Right Blend: Proven experience in traditional finance processes (forecasting, variance analysis) combined with a strong project management or systems implementation background.
Systems Knowledge: Experience with general finance concepts, tools and financial systems is highly preferred, but a strong aptitude and adaptability to learn new systems are just as critical.
Strategic Judgment: The ability to navigate difficult stakeholder situations and comprehensively consider the impact of decisions on other partner groups.
Autonomous Execution: A proactive mindset to identify problems, drive independent solutions, and influence your team to shape better outcomes.
Team-First Attitude: A collaborative approach, focused on building strong, connected working relationships, as this is how we get things done at Capital One.
Innovation: A strong focus on driving process improvement and a willingness to embrace new technology and AI to unlock operational efficiencies.
Systems Knowledge (Nice-to-Have): While broad systems experience is preferred, experience specifically with Workday Financials is a highly desirable asset.
Where and How You'll Work
This is a 12-month fixed-term position based in our Nottingham offices. While not guaranteed, there is potential to explore a permanent role at the end of the contract. We embrace a hybrid approach: you'll spend three days a week in our purpose-built office (featuring an on-site gym, restaurant, and Learning Loft), with the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays.
What you should know about how we recruit
We pride ourselves on hiring the best people, not the same people. Building diverse and inclusive teams is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do. We want to work with top talent: whoever you are, whatever you look like, wherever you come from. We know it’s about what you do, not just what you say. That’s why we make our recruitment process fair and accessible.
We value diversity, inclusion and belonging at our core. We empower our associates to do great work by creating an inclusive culture—one that values diverse perspectives, fosters collaboration and encourages innovative ideas—and a place where associates of all backgrounds can thrive by bringing their most authentic selves to work. We call this our Culture of Belonging, and it rests at the heart of our business.
Our associate-led Business Resource Groups were created to help support our diverse population and include over 10 groups across our offices. Because each Business Resource Group is as unique as the population it serves, they offer a range of activities, networking opportunities, special events and learning programmes to associates.
