DXC Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) manages and modernizes IT infrastructure for the world's largest enterprises through agentic, platform-led operations. We deliver cloud, security, workplace, infrastructure and business-process services that shift operations from reactive support to proactive, outcome-driven service delivery at scale, with human-in-the-loop governance.

DXC Infrastructure Services deliver agentic operations through DXC OASIS to manage large‑scale, mission‑critical environments. Autonomous, policy‑governed agents anticipate issues, optimize performance, and support remediation with human‑in‑the‑loop control, shifting operations from reactive support to pre‑emptive, resilient service delivery.

About the Role

The Mainframe Network System Programmer is a senior professional responsible for the administration, security, availability, and performance of network infrastructure within IBM z/OS environments. This role is critical to ensuring the connectivity and continuity of business-critical services, managing key technologies such as TCP/IP, VTAM/SNA, Communications Server, and high-availability solutions.

In this position, the successful candidate will install, configure, and maintain z/OS network software and services, optimize TCP/IP and VTAM/SNA environments, and ensure the security and resilience of enterprise-scale, mission-critical infrastructure. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex connectivity and performance issues, as well as active participation in migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and disaster recovery activities.

The ideal candidate is a highly specialized IBM Z/Mainframe networking expert with deep technical expertise combined with leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and vendors, provide technical leadership and mentoring, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support global operations. Fluency in English is essential for effective collaboration within international teams and global projects.

Essential Job Functions

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain z/OS network software and services
  • Manage and optimize TCP/IP and VTAM/SNA environments for performance and reliability
  • Ensure network security, resilience, and operational stability across mainframe environments
  • Troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues using z/OS diagnostics and monitoring tools
  • Support migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and disaster recovery activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and vendors on network infrastructure initiatives
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support business-critical services
  • Implement and manage network security technologies including AT-TLS, TLS certificates, IPsec, and secure file transfer protocols
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, CLIST, or USS Shell to streamline operations

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe Network Systems Programming or Administration
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) is mandatory
  • Strong expertise in IBM z/OS Communications Server, TCP/IP, VTAM/SNA, APPN/HPR, and Enterprise Extender
  • Experience with network security technologies including AT-TLS, TLS certificates, IPsec, IP filtering, SSH, and secure file transfer protocols
  • Knowledge of VIPA/DVIPA, Sysplex Distributor, Parallel Sysplex networking, and high-availability environments
  • Hands-on experience with z/OS commands, TSO/ISPF, JCL, network diagnostics, monitoring, and performance tuning
  • Experience with disaster recovery, incident management, change management, and production support
  • Automation and scripting skills using REXX, CLIST, USS Shell, or similar tools
