Mechanical Maintenance Technician performing maintenance and projects for the casting department’s production equipment. Work 12 hour shifts, rotating 4 days “on” and then 4 days “off” which may occur on night shift, holidays, and weekends with occasional overtime (6 days “on” / 2 days “off”) covering for coworkers’ vacancy.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance
- Train with shift (lead) millwright
- Help improve department safety
- Project & equipment rebuild work
- Assist production personnel and any other casting department needs as required
Qualifications
Required
- Safety first mindset: Display safety awareness in all activities and drive all components of "Take Control of Safety" Program
- Previous mechanical maintenance job experience
- Ability to work 12 hour shifts for up to 6 "days" in a row, rotating day/night shift
- Hands-on, team player with good communication skills and leadership capabilities
- Strong desire to learn and build skills/experience with the ability to learn quickly
Preferred
- Previous mechanical maintenance experience in a steel mill or industrial setting
- Mechanical/electrical vocational or associates dgree higher level education
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, grease systems, alignment, rigging, and mobile equipment. Fabrication skills that include torching, welding, and blueprint reading.
- A basic understanding of PLC's, HMI's, and electromechanical equipment that will aid in troubleshooting mechanical maintenance team
