Position Summary

The Associate Director, Digital Strategy & Solutions is a senior, business-focused technology leader responsible for translating Texas Oncology strategic, clinical, and operational priorities into an integrated portfolio of digital solutions. The Associate Director owns portfolio strategy, prioritization, governance, solution assessment, and executive visibility, while leading the Finance and Legal technology capabilities and their roadmaps.

This role works across clinical, operational, technology, enterprise, vendor, and control-function stakeholders to advance scalable, secure, and user-centered solutions. The Associate Director may initially operate as an individual contributor, leading through influence and matrixed teams, and may assume people leadership as the portfolio and function mature.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

•  Own and evolve the Digital Strategy & Solutions portfolio and roadmap in alignment with Texas Oncology priorities.

•  Translate clinical, operational, and enterprise priorities into sequenced digital capabilities and investment opportunities.

•  Maintain integrated visibility across demand, assessments, pilots, implementations, dependencies, risks, decisions, adoption, and value.

•  Develop recommendations for prioritization, investment, scaling, optimization, or retirement of solutions.

•  Identify opportunities to leverage existing enterprise capabilities and reduce duplication or fragmentation.

Finance & Legal Technology Capability Ownership

•  Own the technology capability roadmaps for Finance and Legal, including strategy, demand shaping, stakeholder alignment, and investment planning.

•  Partner with Finance and Legal leaders to identify business needs, workflow opportunities, risks, and measurable outcomes.

•  Coordinate across enterprise technology teams, vendors, architecture, security, data, procurement, and delivery partners to advance approved priorities.

•  Maintain transparency into capability health, planned improvements, dependencies, and value realization.

Solution Assessment & Investment Recommendations

•  Lead structured problem definition and assessment of proposed digital solutions and emerging technologies.

•  Direct market scans, vendor research, product comparisons, feasibility analysis, and build-versus-buy considerations.

•  Translate business and clinical needs into capabilities, requirements, workflows, evaluation criteria, and success measures.

•  Develop or oversee business cases addressing strategic alignment, operational impact, financial implications, risk, scalability, and expected value.

•  Present evidence-based investment recommendations to executive and governance forums.

Governance & Solution Lifecycle

•  Own the Digital Strategy & Solutions governance operating model and align it with applicable enterprise processes.

•  Establish and maintain stage gates, decision rights, role clarity, templates, checklists, escalation paths, and documentation standards.

•  Lead preparation and progression of solution requests through appropriate governance forums.

•  Coordinate reviews with architecture, information security, privacy, responsible AI, procurement, legal, finance, and data governance partners.

•  Maintain decision records, approval conditions, dependencies, risks, and follow-through through the solution lifecycle.

Executive Engagement & Strategic Leadership Support

•  Serve as a trusted proxy for senior IT leadership in key strategic, governance, and vendor discussions.

•  Develop executive-ready recommendations, portfolio updates, decision materials, meeting readouts, and strategic communications.

•  Translate complex technology, operational, and financial considerations into clear choices and business implications.

•  Surface material risks and decisions early, with recommended actions.

•  Lead or support portfolio reviews, planning sessions, leadership forums, quarterly reviews, and strategic offsites.

Adoption, Value Realization & Capability Building

•  Ensure initiatives have clear business ownership, adoption plans, success measures, feedback loops, and sustainable support models.

•  Partner with clinical and operational leaders on workflow impact, readiness, training, communications, and change implications.

•  Monitor pilots and deployed capabilities and recommend scaling, optimization, corrective action, or retirement based on evidence.

•  Lead Technical Capability Owner education and roadmap enablement through practical guidance, templates, and self-service resources.

•  Establish repeatable methods and standards that improve stakeholder experience, transparency, and decision quality.

Organizational Leadership

•  Lead cross-functional teams and workstreams through influence, accountability, and clear decision structures.

•  Define effective working interfaces across strategy, architecture, delivery, project management, operations, and enterprise shared services.

•  Initially operate as a senior individual contributor where appropriate and assume responsibility for employees or contingent resources as the function scales.

•  Coach partners and team members in structured problem solving, executive communication, governance, and value-focused delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

•  Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, healthcare administration, health informatics, engineering, or a related field.

•  10+ years of progressive experience in digital strategy, healthcare technology, enterprise solutions, transformation, management consulting, product strategy, or a related field.

•  Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.

•  Experience developing strategies, roadmaps, executive recommendations, solution assessments, governance models, or investment business cases.

•  Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and advance decisions without relying solely on direct authority.

•  Strong executive communication, facilitation, problem-solving, prioritization, and stakeholder-management skills.

•  Ability to move fluidly between strategic direction and hands-on leadership of high-priority deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Master's degree in business administration, health informatics, healthcare administration, information technology, or a related field.

•  Experience in oncology, specialty care, physician-practice operations, or a complex multi-site healthcare network.

•  Management consulting or internal strategy experience.

•  Experience with digital health, EHR platforms, AI-enabled solutions, interoperability, automation, or data-driven transformation.

•  Experience with ROI modeling, benefits realization, portfolio prioritization, and vendor evaluation.

•  Familiarity with information security, privacy, responsible AI, procurement, contracting, and technology risk practices.

•  Experience establishing or scaling a digital strategy, governance, innovation, or portfolio-management capability.

•  Prior formal or matrixed people-leadership experience.

Leadership Attributes

•  Enterprise mindset with strong customer and patient orientation.

•  Sound judgment in ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.

•  Ability to simplify complexity and frame clear decisions.

•  Proactive ownership, disciplined follow-through, and comfort constructively challenging assumptions.

•  Collaborative leadership across organizational boundaries.

•  Strong balance of strategic thinking, execution, and measurable outcomes.

Working Conditions

•  Normal office or remote-work environment.

•  Up to 25% regional travel.
