Overview
The Quality Manager is a member of the Quality Department at Mobis South Carolina Electrified Powertrain (MSCe) and is responsible for leading all quality-related activities to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. This role oversees quality assurance, quality control, supplier quality, customer quality, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. The position is responsible for managing the Quality Management System (QMS), customer quality performance, supplier quality development, audit readiness, and corrective action processes while driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.This role collaborates closely with Production, Engineering, Logistics, Maintenance, and EHS teams to support plant startup activities, operational readiness, and sustainable manufacturing excellence.MOBIS Corporate Center America will be aiding in the hiring process for this position.Responsibilities

- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 requirements and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Lead internal audits, process audits, and customer audits to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Manage customer complaints, quality claims, and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Monitor key quality metrics, including PPM, First Pass Yield (FPY), customer complaints, audit findings, and CAPA effectiveness.
- Lead and oversee a team of functions with advanced quality, quality test, quality control, quality assurance, quality management system and supplier quality to ensure that all products meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Plan, develop, and implement quality policies and procedures.
- Conduct audits and inspections to identify any areas in need of improvement.
- Investigate complaints and incidents to determine root cause and corrective action.
- Monitor trends in customer feedback and satisfaction data to identify potential issues.
- Analyze data and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of current quality control procedures.
- Recommend and implement changes to improve overall product quality.
- Keep up to date with industry’s best practices and developments.
- Liaise with other departments to resolve quality issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare reports and presentations for upper management.
- Monitoring work progress to ensure that deadlines are met and that quality standards are upheld.
- Conducting regular audits of production lines or departments to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Evaluating potential hazards in the workplace and recommending solutions to unsafe conditions.
- Managing projects involving a team of employees working on specific tasks towards common goals.
- Monitoring employee attendance and taking disciplinary action if necessary.
- Training new employees according to company policies and procedures, including safety measures and ethics policies.
- Train and mentor new employees on quality control procedures.
- Reviewing employee performance to determine whether they are meeting standards or making improvements needed to meet standards.
- Providing guidance and support to employees in their work teams to ensure that they are performing their jobs effectively.
- Monitoring and reporting on employee productivity to ensure that goals are being met.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY & SCOPE
Responsible for directing quality operations and supervising quality personnel. Exercises authority related to quality management systems, customer quality issues, supplier quality performance, audit readiness, corrective actions, and employee performance management.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes, Responsible for managing quality personnel, including Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Supplier Quality, and Quality Systems functions.
Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in automotive quality, battery manufacturing quality, or related quality management functions
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
- Production part approval process (PPAP) and the required documentation
- Root cause analysis and tools utilized for investigation and correction
- Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) and the required documentation
- Control plans and the development of required documentation
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 and VDA 6.3 requirements
- Strong understanding of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, and MSA
- Experience with customer quality requirements, audits, and corrective action management.
- Strong problem-solving skills using 8D, 5 Why, and root cause analysis methodologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Proven ability to analyze data and make sound business decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience with automotive OEM and Tier 1 supplier quality requirements preferred
- Working knowledge of PPA, VDA, QPNi which are VW quality process
- Experience in automotive EV/xEV battery manufacturing environments preferred
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing plant and office environment
- Frequent walking and standing on the production floor
- Exposure to production equipment, machinery, and industrial noise
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- May require shift support, extended work hours, weekends, and holidays based on production requirements
