Responsibilities

Spirit, Spencer’s is seeking an experienced Sr. Assistant, Brand Imagery to direct and lead hardlines photography, creative direction and visual execution across e-commerce, packaging, marketing, and other brand initiatives. This role will work closely with Creative, Merchants, Product Development, Design, E-commerce, Marketing, and Photography teams to establish compelling visual direction that showcases products, communicates key selling features, and maintains the distinct personality of each brand. The Sr. Assistant, Brand Imagery will be responsible for developing concepts and visual direction for still life and product photography, overseeing sets and props, and ensuring that final imagery meets established creative and brand standards. The ideal candidate is a strong conceptual thinker with excellent visual instincts, a keen understanding of product photography, and the ability to translate product attributes and merchandising priorities into engaging imagery. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role requiring strong organization, communication, and project management skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Develop and execute creative direction for hardlines product photography across packaging, e-commerce, marketing, social, and other brand initiatives
  • Establish and maintain visual standards for hardlines imagery, ensuring photography is consistent with each brand personality
  • Partner closely with Merchants, Product Development, Design, E-commerce, Marketing, and Photography to understand product priorities, selling points, target consumer, and creative needs
  • Concept and art direct still life, tabletop, product, and environmental photography, both in studio and on location
  • Determine appropriate composition, lighting, camera angles, styling, backgrounds, sets, props, surfaces, and supporting elements to best showcase each product
  • Translate product concepts and creative briefs into clear and compelling visual direction for photographers, stylists, set stylists, and other creative partners
  • Own the collaboration, scheduling, and production of hardlines photography shoots, working with cross-functional teams to coordinate product availability, creative direction, resources, timelines, and shoot requirements
  • Art direct photography shoots from pre-production through final delivery, ensuring the creative vision is executed consistently and efficiently
  • Collaborate with photographers and stylists to establish lighting, composition, styling, and overall visual approach
  • Work with Product Development and Merch teams to identify key product features and ensure photography accurately represents the product and supports its merchandising objectives
  • Develop creative approaches for products that require specialized styling, demonstration, scale, functionality, or multiple views
  • Oversee set and prop development, sourcing, and styling to create visually engaging product environments while remaining aligned with budget and production timelines
  • Oversee retouching and post-production to ensure color, product details, proportions, and overall image quality accurately represent the product
  • Manage multiple projects and photography priorities simultaneously while maintaining schedules, deadlines, and budgets
  • Establish efficient processes and best practices that improve the quality and consistency of hardlines photography
  • Identify opportunities to continually elevate product photography through new techniques, visual approaches, technology, and industry trends
  • Travel for photo shoots and location productions as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Art Direction, Visual Communication, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in art direction, product photography, or a related creative role
  • Experience art directing hardlines, still life, tabletop, product, or e-commerce photography required
  • Strong portfolio showcasing product photography and visual storytelling required
  • Experience managing photo shoots from concept through final delivery
  • Strong understanding of photography, lighting, composition, styling, sets, props, and retouching
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of digital photography and image-making workflows
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Capture One, PageProof, and Mac software
  • Familiarity with PLM and/or other product lifecycle and creative project management systems
  • Knowledge of digital retouching and image processing techniques
  • Ability to work with current and emerging photography technologies and production tools

 

 

The pay range reflects the potential base salary range for this role. Individual base pay is determined by various factors such as relevant experience and skills, and the scope and responsibilities of the position.
