Position Summary...
The Director, Trends & Emerging Fraud Risk will lead the team responsible for identifying and responding to emerging fraud risks across Walmart’s digital ecosystem. This leader will use transaction data, fraud signals, and decision outcomes to identify changing patterns and translate insights into action. The role will advance Walmart from reactive response to proactive fraud prevention by strengthening monitoring capabilities, tools, and processes and driving improvements across decisioning, models, rules, and technology. The Director will partner across Fraud Strategy & Operations, CES, Product, Engineering, Data Science, Treasury, Compliance, Global Investigations, Ecommerce, Marketplace, and other business teams.About the team: The Enterprise Fraud Strategy & Operations team safeguards Walmart by proactively identifying, preventing, and responding to fraud throughout the customer lifecycle. Collaborating across the organization, the team develops scalable fraud capabilities including identity verification, transaction decisioning, fraud technology, monitoring, and investigations. Focused on early risk detection and continuous enhancement of fraud decisioning, the team ensures a trusted experience for legitimate customers. This group combines expertise in program management, stakeholder engagement, financial oversight, and business operations to deliver effective solutions that protect both customers and the business.
What you'll do...
- Lead emerging fraud risk identification, monitoring transaction activity and fraud signals to detect new and evolving threats.
- Own fraud monitoring capabilities, tools, and governance, including performance metrics, thresholds, escalation protocols, and operational readiness.
- Turn data into action, translating fraud trends into rapid mitigation strategies, rules, controls, and longer-term improvements.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to shape technology roadmaps and scalable fraud capabilities.
- Measure and report effectiveness, providing clear visibility into fraud exposure, trends, and performance.
- Create feedback loops across fraud, technology, and business teams to continuously strengthen prevention.
- Lead and develop a high-performing analytical and operational team.
What you'll bring:
- Significant experience in fraud analytics, transaction monitoring, risk decisioning, fraud technology or operations, or related fields.
- Strong analytical expertise identifying patterns, anomalies, and emerging risks across complex datasets.
- Experience owning fraud monitoring or decisioning capabilities and partnering with technology teams to enhance tools and platforms.
- Ability to translate insights into fraud strategies, controls, and operational improvements.
- Knowledge of rules, models, signals, risk scoring, SQL, Python, and visualization tools.
- Experience establishing governance, performance metrics, monitoring standards, and escalation processes.
- Strong cross-functional influence, executive communication, and business judgment.
- Proven success building and developing high-performing teams.
