Description

We’re pleased to share an exciting opportunity at the Centre of Expertise Trade Sales team (CoE TS) within our Transaction Services (TS) organisation.

The team
The Centre of Expertise Trade Sales team is composed of 10 FTEs in The Netherlands and 7 FTEs in Belgium. You will report into the Head of Trade Sales CoE.

CoE TS at ING TS offers a dynamic and professional environment within Wholesale Banking. CoE TS supports international corporate clients in managing risk and optimizing working capital /liquidity across global value trade flows. This role sits at the heart of our efforts to position ING as a leading provider of Trade Finance, offering a diverse and impactful product suite that amongst others includes Supply Chain Finance, Receivables Finance, Inventory Linked and Traditional Trade solutions (Letters of Credit, Guarantees etc).

Your role

As an Associate within the Centre of Expertise (CoE) Trade Sales, you will play a key role in supporting the Deal Principal throughout the sales cycle—contributing to the structuring, implementation, and delivery of a broad range of Trade products. You will collaborate closely with both the Deal Principal and the Trade Sales Account Management team to ensure seamless execution, client satisfaction, and strategic alignment, while also helping to identify future growth and cross-sell opportunities.

The product scope entails the wider products offered like the traditional trade products (bank guarantees, (stand-by) letters of credit as well as different open account working capital products (receivables, supply chain as well as inventory). These products are focused on wholesale banking clients within the Transaction Services product offering.

We work through our dedicated Trade teams based in different EMEA countries as well as New York and across APAC. CoE TS country scope of activities is heavily focused on countries with limited dedicated Trade Sales in country. For other countries, CoE core focus is to support the network with complex transactions which cannot be accommodated from the country itself.

Key responsibilities include cross-functional collaboration with credit, legal, and sector teams to support client needs and drive scalable and compliant growth in Trade Solutions. Acting as a conduit to product management, you also support in our continuous drive for innovation by focusing on selective differentiating themes that reinforce ING’s competitive edge and deliver scalable client impact.

Your responsibilities
As an Associate you will support the Deal Principal in the structuring and execution of complex transactions, combining commercial ownership with technical expertise across the full spectrum of trade products.

  • Support the Deal Principal in structuring / implementing Trade transactions. This goes from traditional trade products to open account working capital products (receivables, supply chain as well as inventory).
  • Ensure smooth handover of implemented deals to the Trade Sales Account Management team for ongoing relationship management and post-deal support.
  • Analyse client needs, identify opportunities and work out proposals.
  • Join client meetings and pitches, become the go to contact person for our clients during the structuring phase of the transaction.
  • Be part of the client interface and the liaison with the internal and external parties involved in the transactions.
  • You will be given room to grow towards becoming a technical expert in the matter, be part of a real deal team and experience a transaction structuring process from the front row. As an Associate, you will be a key member of the deal team.
  • Get yourself acquainted with legal documentation.
  • Craft commercial presentations aimed at explaining the product to internal and external clients.
  • Keep the business safe and compliant. Think along on how to improve our processes from a compliance perspective.
  • Make the difference to grow the Trade business.

How to succeed
We recruit talented individuals like you for the potential you bring. You collaborate naturally, listen actively, and invest in team success, always looking for creative ways to solve problems and deliver value. Our foremost expectation is that you remain inquisitive—continuously learning and embracing responsibility. In return, we will provide the space and support for your personal development and professional growth.

As an Associate you also need
