Description
Position : Instrument Engineer
Industry : Oil & Gas
Location : Johor
Employment : Contract
Scope of Works:
- Provide technical engineering support for instrumentation and control systems throughout project and operational activities.
- Provide technical input and execute the Instrument Engineering Strategy, Business Plan, and Policy, covering technical and project engineering services and specialized engineering solutions.
- Support engineering design, preparation and review of technical documentation, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
- Perform and support loop checking, function testing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and reliability improvement measures.
- Provide technical support for field instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters.
- Support control and safety systems including PLC, DCS, SIS, and FGS, as well as machinery control and measurement systems.
- Ensure instrumentation activities comply with safety requirements, regulatory standards, international codes, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate engineering and maintenance documentation and contribute to continuous improvement, reliability, and asset integrity initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience.
- Conversant with Instrumentation & Control Systems and relevant field instruments.
- Hands-on knowledge of PLC, DCS, SIS, and FGS systems.
- Experience in engineering design, technical documentation, loop checking, function testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Familiar with applicable international standards, industry best practices, safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Experience in petrochemical / Oil & Gas facilities is highly preferred.
- Experience in plant maintenance and turnaround activities will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering, asset integrity, and inspection.
- Exposure to EPC, brownfield projects, commissioning, and start-up activities is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, coordination, and communication skills.
