Job Description:

IAT Insurance Group has several openings for Data Engineering & Visualization Internships in our Raleigh, North Carolina location for the summer of 2027. This internship will allow you to work across multiple functional areas including our Analytics and Business Intelligence Teams providing you with daily exposure to top-level business intelligence analysts, actuaries, underwriters, and executives in the field. 

The internship is scheduled to begin on May 24th, 2027 and conclude on July 30th, 2027. Please note, IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.

Responsibilities:

• Document complex business requirements and translate to technical coding steps/UI Design
• Query Data Warehouse Tables and Develop ETL Pipelines
• Design and Construct Scalable Data Models to be leveraged for Data Analysis and Visualization
• Visualize data by creating interactive reports and dashboards for Business Partners

Qualifications:

Must have:

• Must be able to work out of our Raleigh, North Carolina office without housing assistance or relocation assistance from IAT Insurance Group.
• Must be able to complete the entirety of the 10-week internship program (May 24th, 2027 to July 30th, 2027).
• Rising undergraduate Junior or Senior (Graduate Students also encouraged) majoring in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
• Analytical thinking skills
• Problem Solver
• Strong communication skills both with Technical and business resources
• Willingness to learn
• Proficient with Microsoft office
• Ability to work independently
• Above average computer skills
• To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.

 

Preferred to have:

• SQL/Python/PySpark Coding Experience
• Exposure to Data Modeling/Database Design best practices
• Experience with Data Visualization Tools (Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, etc.)
• Course work in Data Analytics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science
• Have a general knowledge of the Microsoft Fabric Platform
