Job Purpose

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) presents an opportunity for a full-time Lead Developer to join our AI Center of Excellence (AICOE) team, responsible for architecting and managing the AICOE platform’s CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure. The candidate will serve as a Technical Lead within the AI Center of Excellence team, playing a pivotal role in building and operating the automation, deployment, and orchestration foundation that the AICOE platform runs on.

The ideal candidate must possess deep expertise in CI/CD pipeline design, build and release automation, and container orchestration, leveraging tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Kubernetes, OpenShift, AWS EKS, and Helm charts. Familiarity with supporting AI and inference workloads on this infrastructure is a plus.

 

This position demands advanced technical proficiency in pipeline orchestration, deployment automation, environment management, and performance optimization, innovative problem-solving capabilities, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to mentor and guide platform engineering team members effectively. The role requires technical vision for the AICOE platform’s CI/CD and infrastructure roadmap, including compute resource management, release lifecycle optimization, and infrastructure reliability. Exceptional professionalism, proactive collaboration, and outstanding communication skills are essential.

 

The candidate will actively engage and influence stakeholders within the AI Center of Excellence to align CI/CD and platform capabilities with development team requirements and business SLAs, ensuring efficient resource utilization, reliable deployments, and cost-effective scaling. Strong written and verbal communication skills are imperative, given the candidate’s responsibility to articulate pipeline efficiency metrics, deployment reliability improvements, resource allocation strategies, and platform ROI clearly and persuasively to both technical teams and leadership, including presenting build and release metrics, infrastructure cost optimization, and platform scalability plans to AICOE leadership.

 

Responsibilities

• Architecting, implementing, and managing the AICOE platform’s CI/CD pipelines and supporting infrastructure.
• Driving innovation, operational excellence, and scalability within the AICOE team’s build, release, and deployment environments.
• Leading technical strategy for the AICOE platform’s CI/CD and infrastructure, including support for AI and inference workloads where required.
• Effectively collaborate with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to align platform capabilities with strategic objectives.

 

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5+ years of experience and demonstrated leadership in designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins.
• Strong programming and scripting skills with hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines end to end.
• Proficiency with GitHub Actions and Jenkins for build, test, and deployment automation.
• Deep, hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, and AWS EKS, including Helm charts and container orchestration for production environments.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) and configuration management.
• Strong experience with container technologies including Docker, and orchestration for production workloads.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) for platform and pipeline health.
• Extensive experience in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including compute, networking, and storage services.
• Experience leading platform engineering development in cross-functional teams of developers and engineers.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines for application build, test, and deployment, including automated rollback and release workflows.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills in CI/CD and platform infrastructure challenges and strategic thinking for platform scalability.
• Excellence in explaining complex infrastructure solutions to technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Experience in enterprise environments, working with governance, compliance, and secure software delivery practices.
• Exposure to supporting AI/ML or inference platform infrastructure is a plus, but not a core requirement of this role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of build automation, release management, versioning, and automated testing frameworks.
• Advanced programming and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Go, Bash), with proficiency in performance optimization.
• Proven leadership abilities in guiding cross-functional platform engineering teams and mentoring developers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
