DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Facilities Co-ordinator - EHS will be responsible for driving site-level Environment, Health & Safety programs at the Bengaluru office. The role will focus fully on core EHS operations, including employee and contractor safety, emergency preparedness, EHS training, incident reporting, Permit-to-Work controls, Management of Change, statutory and internal compliance, audits, and implementation of Thermo Fisher EHS standards.

The position is critical to maintaining a safe, compliant, and audit-ready workplace, particularly as Bengaluru continues to grow as a key global site with increasing employee presence in office.

Key Responsibilities

EHS Governance & Compliance

  • Support implementation of site-level EHS programs in line with Thermo Fisher global EHS standards and applicable local requirements.
  • Maintain EHS documentation, compliance trackers, risk assessments, incident records, action trackers, and audit evidence.
  • Support internal and external EHS audits and ensure timely closure of observations and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Global / Regional EHS teams for reporting, governance updates, and implementation of EHS initiatives.
  • Participate in site EHS meetings and provide regular updates on EHS performance, risks, and improvement actions.

Training, Induction & EHS Communication

  • Conduct EHS induction for new employees, contractors, vendors, and visitors.
  • Drive EHS awareness campaigns, safety alerts, toolbox talks, and site-level safety communications.
  • Maintain EHS briefing content, visitor safety videos, contractor induction material, and training records.
  • Coordinate external training and certification for ERT members, first aiders, fire wardens, and relevant site teams.

Emergency Preparedness & Life Safety

  • Support formation and maintenance of Emergency Response Team, Fire Marshals, First Aiders, and Quick Response Teams.
  • Coordinate mock drills, fire evacuation drills, emergency response exercises, and drill observation closure.
  • Maintain evacuation plans, emergency contact lists, emergency signage, incident logs, and life-safety infrastructure records.
  • Ensure readiness of emergency systems such as alarms, panic buttons, emergency exits, evacuation signage, first-aid boxes, spill kits, eyewash stations, and emergency communication tools.

Permit-to-Work, MOC & Contractor Safety

  • Manage Permit-to-Work controls for general work, electrical work, work at height, hot work, confined space work, and other high-risk activities.
  • Ensure Management of Change review for site modifications, seating expansions, refurbishment activities, and operational changes.
  • Review contractor safety compliance, PPE adherence, toolbox talks, work authorization, and site safety induction.
  • Conduct periodic site rounds to verify safe work practices and compliance with EHS requirements.

Technical & Soft Services Safety Controls

  • Maintain and monitor PPE matrix implementation for technical and soft services teams.
  • Ensure availability and usage of safety equipment such as insulated tools, FRP ladders, electrical safety gloves, arc flash suit, spill kits, and eyewash stations.
  • Conduct safety checks for facility maintenance activities, chemical handling areas, housekeeping activities, vendor work zones, and utility areas.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and drive corrective actions with vendors, facilities teams, and stakeholders.

EHS Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain EHS records and reports in applicable EHS systems such as Intelex or equivalent platforms.
  • Support emergency communication readiness through tools such as Everbridge or equivalent systems.
  • Prepare EHS dashboards, incident summaries, compliance reports, training records, audit action trackers, and management updates.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen site safety culture, emergency readiness, and operational controls.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate with around 4 years of experience in core EHS, preferably in corporate office, facilities, IT/ITES, life sciences, manufacturing support, or large commercial workplace environments.
  • Working knowledge of EHS compliance, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, Permit-to-Work, risk assessment, incident reporting, and audits.
  • Basic understanding of fire safety, first aid coordination, electrical safety, chemical handling safety, PPE, workplace ergonomics, and emergency response.
  • Experience in conducting EHS inductions, toolbox talks, mock drills, site inspections, and contractor safety checks.
  • Ability to maintain documentation, dashboards, trackers, and compliance records.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with employees, contractors, vendors, facilities teams, HR, security, and regional/global EHS stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS reporting tools.
  • Certifications in fire safety, first aid, IOSH, NEBOSH, industrial safety, or equivalent EHS training will be an added advantage.
