The External Reporting Analyst role is in the External Financial Reporting team based in Budapest.
External Financial Reporting (EFR) is the team within BP responsible for the group consolidation and preparation of the group’s published financial documents in the Annual Report and Form 20-F, quarterly UK stock exchange announcements (SEA), quarterly US filings (Form 6-K), quarterly filing of consolidated financial documents of BP America, Databook, and Japanese reporting.
The role is very much global in nature and provides an excellent opportunity for the successful applicant to gain exposure to a wide range of accounting issues, network with a variety of other Finance and non-finance teams and offers an insight into the Group’s global financial reporting processes.
In this role You will:
- Be part of a global External Financial Reporting team comprising four External Financial Reporting Analysts based in Budapest. Working alongside the External Financial Reporting Manager, the role provides support to the VP External Financial Reporting.
- Liaise with data submitters, business segment policy and control teams, Tax, Treasury and external auditors.
- Review of submitted data for completeness, accuracy and data integrity, and raising and resolution of queries.
- Preparation of primary financial documents and notes to the accounts.
- Provide advice to data submitters and businesses on group reporting matters and ensure that group accounting procedures are followed.
- Participate in delivery of training for data submitters across the group.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within EFR to increase efficiencies within the team and processes.
- Involvement in ad-hoc group projects including CFIN implementation.
What You will need to be successful:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or Qualified accountant or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and financial reporting principles
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyses and interpret complex financial data
- Experience with Power BI and data visualization tools is highly valued
- Excellent partner engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to manage several priorities and consistently deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
- Flexible demeanor with a willingness to embrace change and adapt to evolving business needs and priorities
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of consolidations, either as preparer or auditor
- Experience of Group reporting processes/systems within BP (FBW and Analysis for Office)
