Description

The Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) team’s mission is to enhance how our internal and external stakeholders — including colleagues — perceive and experience Citi by protecting the reputation of the firm, its businesses and the brand. The Global Communications team is an agile, high-impact group that nimbly covers a broad scope of responsibilities ranging from executive communications to corporate culture and reputation.

Within this framework, the Wealth Communications team specifically focuses on strengthening the reputation of the businesses, products and functions of Citi Wealth. Our mission is to engage key audiences through comprehensive communication strategies that support key business objectives, particularly in high-growth areas like U.S. Retail Banking, Citi Private Bank, Wealth at Work and Citigold.

Across all our efforts, we embody a high-energy, collaborative, and results-oriented culture. We seek proactive individuals who can anticipate needs, think critically, solve problems effectively, and maintain high professional standards with strong judgment and thoughtful work product. We approach every task with a client-service mindset, striving for excellence with enthusiasm and a positive attitude.

About The Role

We’re looking for a sharp, strategic, and high-stamina communicator to join Citi’s Wealth’s communications team. This role will be focused on writing for the Head of Citi Wealth. You’ll help articulate his voice, vision, and strategy internally and externally as he leads Citi Wealth through a period of growth.

This role will support a range of internal and external speaking engagements including townhalls, media interviews, video scripts, social media posts, and talking points.

This is a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous role that requires exceptional writing skills, sound judgment, and a clear understanding of global business, wealth management, financial services, artificial intelligence, and the broader macro environment. You’ll need to synthesize complexity, connect the dots across the Wealth division and the broader firm, and help build credibility with audiences both inside and outside Citi.

The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in executive communications, financial journalism, or political speechwriting and will thrive in a newsroom-style environment where quality and pace go hand in hand.

This is an exciting moment for Citi Wealth—and for this role—as we drive progress across the business and redefine how we engage with our clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Write speeches, talking points, op-eds, blogs, and thought leadership content for the Head of Citi Wealth.
  • Help craft and communicate his voice, vision, and strategy in a way that inspires action and builds trust among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create dynamic social media / LinkedIn posts
  • Monitor global news, financial markets, and business trends to ensure content is relevant, timely, and positions Citi Wealth as a leading voice on key issues.
  • Partner with the Wealth Communications team and broader ESPA partners to ensure consistency and alignment across Citi’s Wealth narrative.
  • Research, write, edit, and package high-quality content at pace, often on tight deadlines.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to shape messaging and secure approvals.
  • Develop and execute content plans in coordination with broader communications campaigns.
  • Contribute to multimedia storytelling across channels including the intranet, email newsletters, digital signage, and an internal audio app.
  • Make thoughtful, strategic decisions to safeguard Citi’s reputation and ensure content complies with all relevant laws and policies.
  • Report to the Head of Banking & Wealth Communications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • At least six years of professional experience, preferably within a large and complex organization. Experience in financial services, wealth management, or executive communications is highly desirable. Prior newsroom, newsletter, or business journalism experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrate superior editorial, writing, research, copy editing (including AP Style), and fact-checking skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a distaste for corporate jargon.
  • The ability to learn complex wealth management and financial market topics quickly and translate them into compelling narratives and content using simple, accessible language.
  • A practiced eye for visuals and design.
  • Strong communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and the ability to influence senior executives and a wide range of stakeholders, while managing internal approvals.
  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, and a positive professional attitude.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • A willingness to dive into new opportunities and work with a “no task is too small” attitude, both individually and as a team.
  • Deadline-driven with the ability to manage time efficiently while working across multiple projects and assignments. Ability to be flexible with work hours, including some early morning and/or evening hours as needed.
  • Proficient with software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Gen AI tools and how they can support synthesis, editing, and analysis.
  • Team player with a track record of success in delivering high-quality, thoughtful work and working effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment within a heavily matrixed organization.
