Your Role at Walker
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist with weekly, monthly, yearly accounting processes (accounts payable, expense reports processing).
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.
- Manage state and local city registrations, licenses, and related tax filings.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, monitoring performance against targets.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather and analyze financial data.
- Assist with the identification, design, and implementation of AI automation tools.
- Participate in tasks and research with the current Strategic Plan implementation.
- Collaborate with the Director of Corporate Accounting to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and increased efficiency.
- Utilize AI and emerging technologies to enhance financial analysis, reporting, and accounting processes.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
- Experience and Proficiency with ERP software (Deltek is a plus).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Advanced skills with Excel and Word).
- Experience in Co-pilot, Chat GPT, Power BI (or other financial dashboard software) is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Work Environment:
- This role typically operates in an office environment, with occasional travel required for meetings or training sessions.
- Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office) schedule is available after initial training and onboarding.
Compensation & Benefits
At Walker Consultants, we are committed to maintaining fairness and equity in our pay practices. For this role, the estimated base salary range is $65,000 – $85,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law.
