Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology is responsible for developing and operating The Walt Disney Company’s premium sports and entertainment direct-to-consumer video businesses, including ESPN DTC, Disney+, and Hulu. The Live Orchestration Department at DE&E Technology consists of agile and responsive teams of technicians that perform the daily processes and procedures required to run our live and on-demand streaming video products. The department’s responsibilities consist of round-the-clock support for these products, ensuring proper functionality across all platforms. Oversight includes both Linear and Event based content, hands-on operational and procedural support for our products, including system health monitoring and incident management, in addition to live and VOD streaming media orchestration, metadata/guide accuracy, and rights application using proprietary software.
Transmission Engineers are expected to have developed an intermediate level of knowledge of the Live and VOD eco-system, as demonstrated by the ability to problem solve for everyday issues. Equally important is the ability to discern complex issues from the routine, and escalate them in a timely manner with relevant details.

What You Will Do
Transmission Engineers are expected to possess an intermediate level of knowledge of the Live and VOD ecosystem, as demonstrated by the ability to problem solve for everyday issues. Equally important is the ability to discern complex issues from the routine, and escalate them in a timely manner with relevant details.
A Transmission Engineer will also:
Possess intermediate workflow knowledge and operational experience
Manage EPG data for live channels, including extending listings data and updating catalog attributes as needed on streaming platforms including Disney+, ESPN, and Hulu + Live TV, ensuring the availability and quality of media, schedule, and rights data
Ensure content blackouts compliance against contractual obligations and partner communications, via audits and/or manual implementation - update, verify, validate, and send blackout notifications to technical and programming contacts
Monitor and confirm basic health and functionality of front-end facing features via proprietary software for media orchestration
Partner with Senior Operators, Leads, and Supervisors to develop and document troubleshooting protocols for workflow issues
Escalate issues to appropriate support resources, and file incident tickets as needed to track metrics related to outages
This role is a remote role, supporting a shift covering overnight US hours, and most hours will have minimal overlap with US-based engineering teams.

Required Qualification & Skills:
Minimum and Preferred. Inclusive of Licenses/Certs (include functional experience as well as behavioral attributes and/or leadership capabilities)
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant technical, operational or digital media environment
Working knowledge of live/on-demand streaming products
Strong attention to detail
Able to operate independently with moderate guidance
Able to learn quickly and adapt to new situations
Must have a strong ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
