About the role
The Creative Technologist expands what the respond.io Creative team is capable of making.
Sitting at the intersection of creative direction, design, motion, front-end technology, AI and marketing systems, you will turn ambitious ideas into working prototypes, interactive experiences and reusable production tools.
This is not a traditional front-end development role, nor is it a purely experimental creative position. You will use technology to solve real creative and marketing problems: making complex product stories easier to understand, helping campaigns feel more distinctive, reducing repetitive production work and enabling the Creative team to move faster without lowering quality.
You will work closely with the Creative Lead to explore where technology can strengthen the respond.io brand and improve how Creative supports Growth, Product Marketing and wider marketing content.
This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role for someone who can move confidently and independently between concept, design and technical execution — and who uses AI, code, motion and emerging technology to work faster, smarter and more effectively.
respond.io is building a more integrated and scalable Creative function.
As the company scales globally, Creative must create systems and reusable capabilities that make the brand clearer, more consistent and more effective across channels.
What you'll own
Motion, Video and Creative Prototyping
- Turn creative concepts into motion prototypes, video treatments and production-ready visual systems
- Rapidly test animation, storytelling and visual approaches before full production
- Build reusable motion templates, components and workflows that help scale video output
- Explore new ways to communicate respond.io's product, AI capabilities and customer value through motion
- Use emerging creative technology and AI tools to improve production speed, consistency and creative range
- Partner with the Creative Lead to assess feasibility, production effort and the best execution approach for new ideas
Creative Technology and Production
- Move confidently between Figma, code, animation tools and production environments
- Create technically sound experiences that meet respond.io's brand, accessibility, responsiveness and performance standards
- Partner with Web, Martech and Product teams when concepts need to move from creative prototype into production infrastructure
- Maintain a clear distinction between exploratory creative builds and production-owned web or product systems
Creative Systems and Team Enablement
- Build reusable component systems, templates, design tokens and technical production frameworks
- Create tools that help designers and motion creatives produce, adapt and scale work more efficiently
- Improve localisation, resizing, format adaptation, versioning and campaign rollout workflows
- Identify areas where code, automation or modular systems can remove repetitive production effort
- Document tools and systems clearly so they can be adopted without becoming dependent on one person
- Help shift technical knowledge into shared team capability rather than creating a new execution bottleneck
AI-assisted Creative Practice
- Identify practical ways AI can support research, exploration, prototyping and repetitive production tasks
- Develop prompt systems, lightweight tools and controlled workflows that improve creative iteration
- Test emerging creative AI tools and assess their usefulness, quality, originality, security and brand suitability
- Support designers in using AI as an extension of creative judgement — not as a replacement for craft or thinking
- Partner with Marketing Enablement where successful creative workflows need broader adoption and documentation
Experimentation and Emerging Technology
- Maintain an informed view of emerging creative technologies, interaction patterns and production methods
- Run focused experiments based on clear creative or business use cases rather than experimentation for its own sake
- Evaluate new tools against practical criteria such as creative value, production efficiency, scalability, cost and team adoption
- Turn successful experiments into reusable systems, documented workflows or production recommendations
- Help identify which emerging capabilities are strategically relevant to respond.io and which are distractions
How you'll work
You will operate as a specialist within the Creative team, with influence across several functions.
You will work closely with:
- Creative Lead: Creative direction, brand systems, prioritisation, quality standards and capability development
- Design and Motion: Prototyping, technical enablement, reusable systems and collaborative production
- Marketing Enablement: Workflow adoption, operational integration and helping new systems stick across the organisation
- Martech and Web: Production infrastructure, analytics, implementation constraints, performance and governance
- Product and Product Marketing: Product accuracy, technical context and translating functionality into buyer meaning
- Growth, Content and Communications: Campaign requirements, audience needs, channel formats and performance feedback
Your work should make teams feel more capable and faster — not more technically dependent.
What you bring
Required
- 5+ years of experience across creative technology, motion design, digital design, creative production or a comparable hybrid role
- Strong design fundamentals with a portfolio demonstrating high-quality motion, animation and visual storytelling
- Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Strong experience with motion-design and animation workflows, including typography, transitions, compositing and modular animation systems
- Experience using tools such as After Effects expressions, Essential Graphics, templates, plugins or scripting to improve production efficiency
- Practical experience applying AI to video production, creative exploration, asset generation or workflow automation
- Familiarity with generative creative tools such as Stable Diffusion or comparable image/video-generation workflows
- Experience building scalable creative systems, templates or production frameworks that enable teams to produce more content without sacrificing quality
- Strong understanding of brand systems and the ability to translate brand guidelines into repeatable motion and video systems
- Fluency in Figma and Adobe tools, with the ability to move comfortably between static design, motion and production
- Comfortable experimenting with new creative technologies, tools and workflows and determining where they can meaningfully improve production
- Strong systems thinking, with a bias toward reusable solutions rather than manually producing every asset from scratch
- Ability to collaborate closely with designers, video editors, marketers and other non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to explain new tools, production methods and technical possibilities clearly to creative teams
- Strong attention to visual quality, consistency and craft even when working at scale
Nice to have
- Experience in SaaS, B2B technology or product-led marketing
- Experience with 3D tools such as Blender, Cinema 4D or similar
- Experience with generative video, procedural animation or creative coding
- Familiarity with scripting or automation using JavaScript, Python or After Effects scripting
- Experience creating modular video systems for paid media, social content or performance marketing
- Experience building internal creative tools, plugins or automated production pipelines
What Strong Performance Looks Like
You will be successful when:
- Creative concepts can be tested and demonstrated more quickly
- Designers and motion creatives gain new capabilities rather than becoming dependent on you
- Repetitive production work is reduced through thoughtful systems and automation
- Interactive and technical creative work remains recognisably part of the respond.io brand
- Product stories become clearer, more engaging and easier for audiences to understand
- Successful experiments move beyond prototypes and become repeatable team capabilities
- Creative, Web, Martech and Marketing Enablement have clearer collaboration boundaries
- Technology improves the quality and effectiveness of the work — not simply the novelty of the output
This individual will have the opportunity to shape new ways of working, introduce capabilities the team does not yet have and help build a Creative function that combines strong brand thinking with modern technical execution.
The objective is not to use more technology for its own sake. It is to make better ideas possible — and make those ideas easier to build, scale and repeat.
