Description
The Interior Designer I is responsible for ensuring that the interior design of a project enhances the concept and story of the project through spatial quality and materiality. Under the mentorship of more seasoned designers, he/she will work collaboratively with the Project Designer as well as other members of the project team in supporting the development of interior design and selection of furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Depending on project scale and complexity, this individual may complete the below responsibilities under the supervision and mentorship of more senior interior designers.

In the pre-design phase, support the “breaking of the bread” meeting, helping to inspire the client and drive the visioning process.
Conduct foundational research and analysis on current design trends, materials, and furnishings to present innovative ideas and solutions.
Develop, create, and refine interior design concepts through images, sketches, models, diagrams, and renderings.
Support the Project Designer in developing floor plans, furniture layouts, and room arrangements to maximize function and aesthetics.
Help select materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting solutions that align with design intent and budget.
Under the guidance of more senior team members, create material boards and presentations that align with design intent and client requirements.
Implement sustainable design principles into the interior design whenever possible.
Implement Pfluger documentation standards and incorporate redlines into project revisions.
Collaborate with the project team to learn and coordinate specifications for each project.
Maintain and apply an understanding of codes and regulations to assure project compliance.
Attend client meetings and site visits. Support client communications and responses to project requirements, maintaining high client satisfaction throughout a project.
Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between interior design elements and architectural plans.
Assist in managing project timelines and interior design budgets. Contribute to vendor and contractor coordination under supervision to ensure timely procurement and installation of materials and furnishings.
Participate in internal design reviews and pin ups, actively seeking and providing feedback and guidance to refine and improve design solutions.
Maintain and update the materials library when necessary.
Organize presentations with architecture & design industry partners and representatives as needed.
Participate in Pfluger’s recruitment process as needed.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Professional degree in Interior Design or Architecture is required.
Currently pursuing interior design licensure through NCIDQ examination.
Proficiency in the following software: Revit, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office products.
Working knowledge of the following software: Bluebeam and Dynamo.
Foundational knowledge of design principles, practices, and how to apply current codes.
Foundational knowledge of construction documentation and familiarity with construction administration.
Foundational knowledge to select finishes and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) to create a cohesive, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment that aligns with project goals and budget.
Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with clients and internal teams.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects simultaneously.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to succeed in a collaborative environment.
No prior interior design work experience is required.
