Description

The Lead Medical Assistant will provide physician support and share administrative tasks to ensure that healthcare facilities run smoothly. 


Requirements

  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Haymarket Center.
  • Coordinates day to day coverage for providers to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Track lab orders and results to ensure appropriate follow-up is completed.
  • Optimize resources and opportunitiesthrough community linkages and enhance social supports to encourage the improved healthcare management of the person served. 
  • Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, history and medication listing. 
  • Assess the patient to determine the chief complaint of physical, behavioral health and substance use disorders. 
  • Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record in accordance with practices charting policy.
  • Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams and medical procedures.
  • Administers intramuscular and subcutaneous and intradermal injections.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and visitors to include cleaning, sterilizing and storing instruments in accordance with practice policies. 
  • Stocks rooms in preparation for the daily work schedule.
  • Takes inventory of medical and exam room supplies and ordering of medical supplies.
  • Complies with established PPE requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and other chemical disinfectants.
  • Answer office phones and assist front desk in scheduling appointments and directing calls appropriately.
  • Assists in checking out patients and assists them with the referral processing and scheduling process.
  • Assist with other functions of the physician practice as needed.
  • Assists resident to link with needed family and community resources as coordinator and advocate.
  • Attend patient staffing and/or interventions.
  • Seeks appropriate supervision requiring clinical or programmatic decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.



Requirements

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program;
  • Certification: Medical Assistant Preferred
  • CPR/BLS certification is required;
  • One year experience working in a physician office;
  • Knowledge of substance abuse or related field;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively on a team.
