Description

We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.  We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About this role

As a Capital Markets Lead on Intersect's Capital Markets team, you will lead project finance structuring, negotiation, and execution across our expanding portfolio of utility-scale clean energy and power infrastructure projects. You will own project financing processes from initial capital strategy and market engagement through diligence, documentation, internal approvals, financial close, and funding, partnering cross-functionally to ensure projects are financeable and bankable. You’ll also evaluate M&A transactions, partnerships, and other strategic transactions, as well as provide valuation, structuring, and decision support to senior leadership. You will help ensure key decisions and contracts are financeable, manage complex workstreams, develop relationships with financing parties, and mentor junior team members.

Team overview

The Capital Markets team advances Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by designing and executing financing strategies for our projects and broader corporate objectives. The team executes transactions, manages financial and transaction risk, and provides decision-ready analysis at the project and corporate levels. Joining this team means shaping innovative capital strategies at the forefront of the power sector and growing alongside collaborative leaders dedicated to financial and operational excellence.

What you'll do

Lead Project Financing Strategy and Execution

  • Lead project financing processes from initial strategy and market outreach through diligence, term sheet negotiation, documentation, internal approvals, closing, and funding

  • Develop and recommend financing plans and capital structures for individual projects and portfolios

  • Run competitive financing processes by overseeing preparation of lender and investor materials, coordinating outreach, evaluating proposals, and negotiating key commercial terms

  • Oversee project financing models and analyses, including debt sizing, sources and uses, project cash flows, coverage metrics, returns, sensitivities, and downside scenarios

Ensure Project Financeability and Bankability

  • Partner with cross functional teams to assess financing implications of key project decisions

  • Review material contracts for bankability, risk allocation, and impacts on financing terms and availability

  • Identify financing risks and drive mitigation plans across commercial, legal, technical, construction, and operational workstreams

  • Develop practical solutions that meet financing requirements while preserving commercial and operational objectives

Evaluate Strategic Transactions

  • Lead financial evaluation of M&A, partnerships, and other strategic transactions, including modeling, valuation, scenario analysis, and diligence

  • Advise on transaction structure, capital allocation, risk, and strategy

  • Prepare decision-ready materials for capital and risk committee reviews and other internal approvals, clearly framing sensitivities, tradeoffs, and risk

Lead Financing Strategy and Execution

  • Lead project- and corporate-level financing processes from strategy and market outreach through diligence, documentation, approvals, and closing

  • Develop financing structures that align capital sources with project and corporate objectives

  • Coordinate internal teams and external advisors to resolve issues and deliver successful outcomes

Lead Strategic Analysis, Relationships, and Team Development

  • Lead complex, cross-functional analyses that drive decisions at project and corporate levels

  • Develop and maintain relationships with lenders, investors, and other financing parties and advisors

  • Mentor junior team members and help build scalable tools, processes, and team capabilities

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in energy or infrastructure, preferably in project finance, M&A, corporate or strategic finance, investment banking, and/or infrastructure investing.

  • Demonstrated track record of structuring and closing complex financial transactions in the clean energy or power infrastructure sector.

  • Mastery of financial modeling in Excel, with the ability to construct, audit, and analyze dynamic project and corporate finance models.

  • Strong understanding of project financing structures, project contracts, risk allocation, and the factors that drive project bankability

  • Deep familiarity with modern productivity tools including G Suite and Slack for high-velocity team collaboration.

  • Composed, highly analytical approach with a sharp eye for detail in fast-paced transaction environments.

  • Commitment to financial rigor, transparent partnership, and sustainable impact, fully aligned with Intersect's values of Equity, Humility, Authenticity, Long-run Value, and People Come First.
