Exercise Specialist (Cardiac Rehab)

  • 8am-4pm, 36 hours per week

Position Summary

Complies with established policies, procedures, and standards regarding quality, customer satisfaction, positive work environment and financial stewardship. Responsible for maintaining high standards in clinical practice/continuum of care, professional practice development, teamwork, customer relations, and research/performance improvement for a caseload of patients as described by scopes of care in area of practice. Shares the responsibility with other Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation professionals for day-to-day operation of the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program. Works in a multifaceted role with other Cardiopulmonary professionals to see that all patients receive quality education and exercise in all phases and programs within Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department.

Education:

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited program, in Exercise Science, Physiology, Kinesiology, Biology or Health related field required

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certified within 6 months is required
  • ACSM certification preferred

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience

Preferred experience: : Six months experience in a Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation setting preferred

  • Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and TJC standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.
  • Reports to work as required.

Essential Duties & Functions

The Cardiovascular Rehabilitation specialist works as part of a team of RN’s, Pulmonary Rehabilitation therapists, graduate assistants, and interns. The Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Specialist conducts individual participant’s assessments and evaluations in collaboration with a RN. Shares responsibility in planning and evaluating patient care and for providing education to Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation patients and families.

Shares responsibility with other Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation professionals for all phases of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation including documentation of participants’ exercise progress, preparation of reports, quality/performance improvement measures, and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

Works collaboratively implementing and updating each participants exercise prescription and evaluates their progress toward mutually identifiable goals
