Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.

What you’ll be doing...

  • Mid-to-Large Deal Ownership: Act as the primary technical lead for mid-to-large enterprise deals. Take full ownership of the technical sales cycle, from initial discovery and requirements gathering to the final solution presentation.

  • Automation Scoping & Strategy: Move beyond basic scripting to identify strategic automation opportunities. Assess customer environments and internal workflows to scope out where zero-touch provisioning, API integrations, or RPA can be applied. Define these requirements clearly for the Automation Team or Architect I to execute.

  • Technical Discovery & Whiteboarding: Lead interactive customer workshops and whiteboard sessions with IT Directors and Network Managers. Uncover deep technical pain points and map them directly to our SD-WAN, cloud, and modern telecom portfolio.

  • Solution Architecture & Validation: Design comprehensive, scalable network architectures. Oversee the generation of accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) and technical RFP responses, ensuring everything is technically viable and aligned with delivery capabilities.

  • Mentorship: Guide the Architect I in understanding the actual customer requirement and solution design

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as a bridge between Sales, Delivery, and Product. Ensure the solutions you architect are deployable by the delivery team and provide structured feedback to Product Management on mid-market feature requests.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Information Technology, or a related engineering field or four or more years of work experience.

  • Four years of relevant work experience.

  • Two or more years of experience in a customer-facing pre-sales, systems engineering, or solutions architecture role.

  • Advanced Networking Knowledge: Deep understanding of enterprise architectures, including SD-WAN, complex routing/switching (BGP, OSPF), firewalls, VPNs, and legacy telecom transitions.

  • Automation Acumen: Strong ability to identify automation scope. You must understand how APIs work (REST/JSON) and how tools like Python, Terraform, or Ansible integrate into a network, even if you are no longer writing the code from scratch every day.

  • Cloud Integration: Practical experience designing networks that connect securely to public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and understanding cloud-native networking constructs.

  • Presentation Skills: Proven ability to translate complex technical architectures into business value for mid-level technical decision-makers (Directors of IT, Network Managers).

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Mid-level industry certifications such as Cisco CCNP (Enterprise or Security), AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, MEF SD-WAN Professional, or equivalent.

  • Experience navigating the transition of legacy MPLS networks to modern, internet-first SD-WAN or SASE architectures.

  • Experience managing or orchestrating vendor relationships (OEMs) for specific components of a larger deal.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
