Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer – B1 (Mechanical)
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

About the Role
Cakum Global is recruiting a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME – B1 Mechanical) for our aviation client based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
This is a hands-on certifying engineering position responsible for line and base maintenance across the airline's fleet, with a focus on aircraft structures, powerplants, mechanical and associated systems. The role is critical to maintaining aircraft availability, reliability and continued airworthiness within a demanding regional operating environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and certify scheduled and unscheduled line and base maintenance within the scope of the licence and aircraft type ratings held.
- Issue Certificates of Release to Service in accordance with regulatory requirements and company authorisations.
- Inspect, troubleshoot and rectify defects involving aircraft structures, engines, propellers, landing gear, hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel and other mechanical systems.
- Provide technical support during AOG, defect rectification and operational recovery situations.
- Perform scheduled inspections, component changes, modifications and defect rectification in accordance with approved maintenance data.
- Apply applicable Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Engineering Orders and modifications.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed using current and approved technical data.
- Complete accurate aircraft technical records, worksheets, defect reports and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure tooling, equipment and parts used are appropriate, serviceable and correctly controlled.
- Maintain compliance with company maintenance procedures, regulatory requirements and the Engineering Quality and Safety Management Systems.
- Support aircraft reliability and defect investigation activities by providing accurate technical feedback and recommendations.
- Liaise effectively with Maintenance Watch, Continuing Airworthiness, Planning, Technical Services, Stores and MRO providers.
- Provide guidance, supervision and mentoring to unlicensed engineers, technicians and apprentices.
- Promote high standards of safety, workmanship, housekeeping and professional conduct throughout maintenance activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid B1 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence — CASA PNG, or CASA Australia, EASA, FAA or NZCAA licence with the ability to validate or convert to CASA PNG requirements.
- Aircraft type ratings on ATR 72 and/or DHC-8 (Dash 8) are highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience performing and certifying line and/or base maintenance on commercial aircraft.
- Strong experience with regional turboprop aircraft is preferred.
- Sound technical knowledge of:
- aircraft structures and flight controls;
- turboprop engines and propeller systems;
- landing gear and braking systems;
- hydraulic and pneumatic systems;
- fuel systems; and
- associated mechanical aircraft systems.
- Demonstrated fault-finding and defect rectification experience.
- Sound understanding of aircraft maintenance documentation and technical records requirements.
- Experience working with computerised maintenance-tracking or maintenance-management systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable aviation regulations, continuing airworthiness requirements and maintenance organisation procedures.
- Previous experience in remote, regional or emerging-market aviation environments will be an advantage.
