The Warehouse and Distribution Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring the accuracy of inventory levels, and coordinating the efficient distribution of medical supplies and equipment throughout the hospital. This role involves leading a team of warehouse technicians and receiving clerks, managing inventory control processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and hospital standards. The individual will also work closely with procurement, clinical departments, and leadership to maintain optimal stock levels and improve supply chain efficiency. Serves as a backup for the MM Manager.Required Behaviors:

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in warehouse, inventory management, or hospital supply chain operations
- Experience using inventory management software and ERP systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare warehouse setting
Duties and Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations & Leadership:
- Lead and provide guidance to Warehouse Technicians I, II, and III, and receiving clerks ensuring adherence to hospital procedures
- Oversee the receiving, stocking, and distribution of medical supplies to various hospital departments and off-site clinics under direction from the Materials Management Manager
- Help ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of department requisitions and urgent supply requests
- Help to monitor and enforce safety procedures, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Joint Commission, and hospital policies
- Help train warehouse staff in proper handling, storage, and tracking of inventory
- Act as the primary point of contact for inventory-related inquiries and warehouse logistics in the absence of the direct supervisor and serves as back up in the direct supervisor absence
- Help to develop training programs to ensure all warehouse employees understand best practices for inventory control, safety procedures, and hospital compliance standards
- Provide ongoing coaching, constructive feedback, and mentorship to warehouse employees to enhance efficiency and teamwork
Inventory Control & Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels by conducting routine cycle counts, stock audits, and full inventory reconciliation
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, ensuring alignment between physical stock and system records
- Work with procurement to track back orders, expedite urgent orders, and ensure critical supplies remain in stock
- Develop and implement best practices for stock rotation, including First-In, First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expired, First-Out (FEFO) methods
- Monitor par levels for high-usage items and recommend adjustments to prevent shortages or overstock
- Use inventory management software (Workday, Pyxis, or similar hospital ERP systems) to log transactions, track orders, and generate reports
Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Analyze inventory usage trends and recommend process improvements to optimize supply chain operations
- Implement loss prevention strategies to minimize waste, expired products, and misplaced items
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and clinical teams to ensure inventory accuracy and cost-effective purchasing
- Ensure all hospital warehouse activities align with regulatory standards for medical supplies and equipment handling
- Assist in developing and documenting warehouse SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for inventory control and distribution processes
- Each caregiver is responsible for implementing SJRMC’s Service Standards into their daily work:
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages up to fifty (50) pounds regularly
- Comfortable standing for extended shifts without frequent breaks
- Ability to walk long distances, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb ladders as needed
- Perform repetitive tasks like picking and packing without discomfort
- Good hand-eye coordination for operating equipment (pallet jacks, carts, etc.)
- Physical stamina to maintain activity levels throughout shifts
- May require a pre-employment medical evaluation to ensure physical fitness for the role
- Hospital warehouse setting with exposure to temperature variations, lifting requirements, and fast-paced work demands
- Full-time position with standard hospital supply chain hours as described per policy. Hours of operations may vary with evening and weekend shifts as necessary for operational need
