Job Description Summary

Lead Engineer (LE) – Operation & Maintenance Manuals (OMM) will be responsible for ensuring on time delivery of OMM for all the customer projects of the assigned sub-business line within GE Vernova Gas power business; e.g. HDNU (Heavy Duty New Units), Aero Derivatives (Aero), Heavy Duty Services (HDS), SCS (Software & Controls Solutions). They will accomplish the stated objectives through teams of contractors while facilitating their work through establishment of processes, work instructions, Daily management (DM) routines and by leveraging Lean and AI. This role will also involve engaging with cross-functional teams within GE Vernova (e.g. project engineering, project management, vendoc CoE, Project Finance Manager etc.) to set up processes as well as for delivery of OMMs on customer projects.

The LE – OMM shall also be responsible for implementing OMM strategy in consultation with the OMM workstream leader and CMPD leadership. When asked upon, this position will also contribute to digitization of OMMs which might involve tools, templates, integration with other tools, data migration projects etc. Responsibilities further include developing KPIs and metrics towards OMM bowlers, organizing development of digital visual dashboards that facilitate daily management.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure to capture all “Released” projects for OMM delivery tracking purpose
• Go to Gemba with OMM contractor teams and collect data points towards KPI/metric as well as for problem solving
• Determine need for OMM internal standard work as well as cross-functional QMS work instruction in alignment with OMM work stream leader and prepare a plan for revision/new release
• Create/revise process documents- maps/work instructions either by self or with the help of contractors and OMM workstream leader
• Come up with KPIs, metrics, leading/lagging indicators for OMM and finalize a bowler for assigned sub-business line, in coordination with OMM work stream leader
• Set up cadence for Daily/Weekly management as well as MOR (Monthly Operating Reviews) with relevant stakeholders
• Identify problems via Gemba walks as well as through Daily management/MORs and prepare a list of problems to solve, together with their prioritization
• Take up problem solving with help of relevant stakeholders, using Lean toolkit
• Conceive opportunities within the assigned OMM sub-area to leverage AI/Automation for waste reduction/elimination
• Digitization/Tools: Conceive ideas for challenges facing the current OMM tools and a tools landscape for future; contribute to implementation
• Apply lessons learned to continually improve OMM standard work documents
• Collaborates seamlessly with relevant functions teams for OMM topics

 

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering/sciences/Documentation/Digitization or equivalent with 8+ years of experience either in power generation industry or in documentation domain
• Prior experience in leading/establishing digital web-based tools for documentation or for other similar engineering usage
• Demonstrated ability to lead organizational initiatives (e.g. Lean- waste elimination or digital tools or similar) in small area of expertise
• Has fair knowledge either of:
  • GE Vernova power generation products (engineering domain)
  • Documentation standards, rules, tools
