JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established standards of professional practice and the vision and values of the organization, works in a team based environment and is charged with leading the Clinical Counselor services within Vancouver Community health services, to achieve excellence in client centered care, education and research. Duties include participating in the planning and coordination of Clinical Counselor services, practice standards, and goals and objectives, participating in performance evaluation and staff selection, facilitating staffing and scheduling activities, acting as a clinical resource, assessing clinical development needs/interests and providing orientation/education programs and identifying and coordinating research and quality improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Masters of Clinical Counseling or Counselling Psychology from an accredited academic institution (to include a supervised clinical learning rotation), plus a minimum of five (5) years recent, related clinical experience in a community health, primary care, MHSU, or acute setting, including two (2) years' supervisory and leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Eligible for registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and/or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Knowledge & AbilitiesDemonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care.Demonstrated knowledge of varied counselling theories and appropriateness with various client populations.Demonstrated knowledge of Trauma Informed PracticeDemonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology.Demonstrated knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.Demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader, motivator, facilitator, and team member.Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.Demonstrated ability to provide client-centered and culturally sensitive careDemonstrated ability to teach, demonstrate, facilitate, coach and mentor staff.Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and material.Demonstrated ability to promote a creative learning environment.Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of enquiry and evidence based practice.Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with community resources, academic agencies and health care systems.Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing.Demonstrated ability to communicate with, and deal effectively with, co-workers, physicians, other health care staff, patients and their families, and outside agencies.Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Computer literacy with word processing, spreadsheet and database skills.Ability to operate related equipment.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
