Truck Scale Operator

Basic Function

Responsible for accurately weighing all inbound and outbound truck traffic while ensuring the efficient flow of information, documentation, and vehicles entering and leaving the facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Interact professionally, courteously, and efficiently with drivers handling inbound and outbound loads.
• Accurately enter data related to incoming raw material shipments.
• Audit data entries for raw materials and finished products to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and distribute accurate shipping documentation for all inbound and outbound materials.
• Provide outbound shipping documents to transportation carriers and haulers.
• Maintain a valid North Carolina Public Weighmaster Certificate.
• Inspect inbound loads for contamination, excessive water content, and other quality concerns.
• Monitor outbound loads to ensure compliance with North Carolina legal weight requirements.
• Communicate operational information to plant personnel and haulers using CB radios and two-way communication systems.
• Operate the facility phone system after 5:00 PM on weekdays and on weekends as required.
• Maintain a professional and customer-focused demeanor when interacting with the public, customers, and vendors.
• Ensure data entry systems, cameras, and related equipment remain operational and in good working condition.
• Generate and distribute accurate reports to plant leadership and management in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including copiers, calculators, fax machines, and multi-line phone systems.
• Strong mathematical and data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, plant personnel, and management.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in transportation, logistics, shipping/receiving, scale operations, or a related field.
• Experience with inventory, shipping, or weighmaster systems.
• Knowledge of trucking regulations, weights, and transportation documentation.
