Spacecraft Operations Systems Engineer, Mid-Career

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Mid Level Spacecraft Operations Systems Engineer to join our team in Springfield, Virginia.

The candidate will work at a spacecraft ground station as a part of a Mission Operations team. The Command and Control Engineering team is responsible for all aspects of spacecraft operations and maintenance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of spacecraft operations, mission planning and/or monitoring and trending the on-orbit spacecraft telemetry looking for adverse trends that could affect operations, as well as planning and execution of all required spacecraft maintenance and recovery from spacecraft anomalies.

  • Coordinate with management and peers to ensure the integrity of high quality operational products, including procedures, tools, detailed event logging, and system configuration.

  • Analyze technical data, verify and sustain specific systems configuration in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements.

  • Mentor trainees to complete training and certification, includes providing training opportunities and oversight.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience

  • Experience in an engineering management or technical lead role

  • Experience working on satellite ground/spacecraft systems

  • Ability to complete a certification program.  Will be provided specialized training (combination self-study, in-class training, and on-the-job (OTJ) training) in order to complete the necessary certifications required for this position.

  • Willing to work rotating 12 Hour shifts

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a final U.S. Top Secret/SCI and adjudicated CI polygraph Pre-start

  • Experience working with and/or directly supporting the Double Eagle Program

  • Experience planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of requirements management processes

  • Experience resolving cross-functional technical issues

  • Experience with RF (radio frequency) signals and/or ground communication network systems.

  • Experience in one or more of the following: C, C++, Python, Matlab, Java or Linux.

  • Completed CI or Full Scope Polygraph.

Summary pay range: $ 119,850 – $ 162,150
