Description
Owning & executing medium-complex Mechanical sub-system projects to design, develop, optimize, & implement design solutions in Lam Products. These projects would be driven as part of NPD, Continuous Improvement Programs (CIP), cost reduction and/or reliability improvement initiatives. Collaborate with both internal and external Cross Functional Teams (CFT) to ensure the product design meets its objectives, validate the design through performance testing & obtain approvals by following Product Development & Release (PDR) process. Develops & presents reports/presentations of excellent quality that communicate design intent, analysis & validation at design reviews. Develops & execute test plans that generate characterization data sufficient to understand and validate the performance of the design. Performs analytical work in order to characterize and properly specify designs, including heat transfer, stress, vibrations, fluid/gas dynamics and manufacturability. Design and develop thermo-mechanical components with understanding of fluid flow characteristics. Design parts using metals, ceramics, quartz, plastics, and advanced coatings and works with potential suppliers to ensure parts can be manufactured in accordance with performance and cost objectives. Provide immediate response & timely resolution to escalations & design related production issues encountered during the pilot as well as HVM build process. Accountable for releasing complete engineering drawings & bill of materials per engineering change management. Ensures documentation is consistent with SEMI, Lam Standards, GD&T and other standards as applicable (ANSI, DIN etc.) as well as best known methods (BKMs) Provide technical guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers. Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 8 years of relevant experience. (or) Master's in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 4 years of relevant experience Hands on experience to take design from concepts (OEM components, sheet metal, metal machined & weld assembly, plastics & ceramics would be a big plus), detail engineering (Tolerance analysis, dFMEA, 8D problem solving, RCCA, 5-why, DFMA), test plan, testing, etc. & through detailed drawing, parts procurement, DFM interaction with suppliers, assembly, build verification, customer qualification with deeper understanding of issues faced, lessons learned and closure. Ability to identify all technical risks and mitigate them through appropriate calculations; structural, strength, seismic, tipping, flow, thermal & combinations of these including sub-zero temperatures. Demonstrated ability to conduct design reviews, seek approval in collaboration with stakeholders to implement design Ability to work well in a matrix organization with aggressive deadlines, ability to align on priorities, etc. while focused to realize end objective (NX, drawings, GD&T, standards, change mgmt. process) Experience in Semiconductor industry is a plus. Experience in project management, managing projects, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present design concepts to peers and management in a professional and effective way Understanding Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) Knowledge and exposure to ANSI, ASME, SAE, ISO, SEMI standards applicable to semiconductor industry.
