Commercial Service Electrician

Description

Reliable Electric and Lighting is looking for an experienced Commercial Service Electrician to support our customers throughout the Baltimore, Maryland market.

This is not an entry-level electrician position. We are looking for a dependable, experienced electrician who is comfortable working independently, troubleshooting electrical problems, communicating with customers, and completing commercial service calls from start to finish.

What You'll Do

• Perform commercial electrical service and repair work
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, circuits, lighting, controls, breakers, and related equipment
• Diagnose problems and determine appropriate repairs
• Perform electrical installations, replacements, and upgrades
• Service interior and exterior commercial lighting systems
• Work from ladders, lifts, and boom equipment as required
• Read and understand electrical drawings, diagrams, and specifications
• Identify materials and equipment needed to complete repairs and quoted work
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and management
• Complete required service documentation accurately and on time
• Maintain an organized and professional service vehicle
• Follow NEC requirements, company safety procedures, and customer-specific requirements
• Represent Reliable Electric and Lighting professionally at every customer location

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of commercial electrical experience preferred
• Strong commercial electrical troubleshooting experience
• Experience performing electrical service work independently
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Ability to troubleshoot 120/208V and 277/480V commercial electrical systems
• Experience with commercial lighting and lighting controls
• Ability to safely operate ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and the Reliable support team
• Good organizational and paperwork/documentation skills
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Must be dependable, responsive, and capable of managing an assigned service route
• Must successfully complete required pre-employment screening

Compensation

Starting wage will be based on commercial electrical experience, troubleshooting ability, qualifications, and overall ability to independently perform commercial service work.

We are willing to pay toward the top of the range for an electrician who brings strong commercial service and troubleshooting experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of commercial electrical experience preferred
• Strong experience performing commercial electrical service, repair, and troubleshooting
• Ability to work independently in the field with limited supervision
• Strong knowledge of 120/208V and 277/480V commercial electrical systems
• Experience troubleshooting circuits, breakers, panels, lighting systems, controls, and other commercial electrical equipment
• Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and specifications
• Experience with commercial interior and exterior lighting systems
• Ability to identify required materials and accurately determine what is needed to complete repairs and quoted work
• Comfortable working from ladders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts
• Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment and standard electrician tools
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, dispatchers, project/service management, and other team members
• Ability to accurately complete service reports, work documentation, and required paperwork
• Dependable attendance and ability to manage an assigned service schedule
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Ability to safely lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials commonly associated with commercial electrical work
• Must follow company and customer safety requirements at all times
• Must successfully complete required pre-employment screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman-level commercial electrical experience
• Previous experience as a Commercial Service Electrician
• Experience working independently from a company service vehicle
• Commercial retail, facility maintenance, or multi-site service experience
• Experience troubleshooting lighting controls, contactors, photocells, time clocks, occupancy sensors, and related equipment
• OSHA and/or lift certifications are a plus
