Head of Finance

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Salary: £75,000–£85,000 per annum
Job type: Permanent, full-time

An established manufacturing business in the Scarborough area is recruiting an experienced Head of Finance to lead its finance function and support its continued development.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for financial control, group reporting, commercial analysis and strategic planning. This is a hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to improve systems, develop the finance team and influence wider business decisions.

Head of Finance responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a small finance team
• Take ownership of monthly management accounts and group reporting
• Deliver accurate budgets, forecasts and cashflow projections
• Provide commercial analysis across margins, pricing, profitability and operational performance
• Present clear financial insight to the senior leadership team
• Support business planning, investment decisions and commercial opportunities
• Maintain effective financial controls, processes and reporting procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve finance systems and management information
• Oversee year-end reporting and manage relationships with auditors and external advisers
• Provide financial guidance across the wider group
• Contribute to operational and people-related projects where required

Skills and experience

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or qualified through significant relevant experience
• Previous experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Director or senior Finance Manager
• Strong management accounting, financial reporting and commercial finance experience
• Background within manufacturing, engineering or another product-led business
• Experience of group or multi-entity reporting would be advantageous
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management skills
• Confident analysing product margins, pricing and profitability
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using Sage or a comparable finance system
• Previous team management and development experience
• Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
